2024 Colors of Fall in Connecticut 1

We are into October and already there are some changes in the colors of the trees. The nights have been a bit cooler and it starts the change in the leaves.

I play in a Seniors Golf league in Watertown CT which is in Litchfield county. As it is the Northwestern part of the state it not only has the coolest temps, but also the hills make for a greater panorama for the colors.  Being on the gold cure just affords a better vantage point to see the trees without homes in the way.. The sacrifices we make.

The shot above is looking down from the tee on our 11th hole. Formerly the 2nd but sides were reversed this year.  The photo below is looking back up towards the tee.

These trees show a lot of color as they get a lot of sunlight normally.

The photos below is closer to the 11th green with the colors around the pond.

The next photo is looking up to the 13th green which is the shot I took last week with the lone colored maple.

Then on the same hole looking down towards the tee from the green.

Moving over to the 15th hole, a par 5 which shows a lot of color once they have had more time to change.

I moved up to the front 9, which are higher on the hillside and offer typically more views of the hills on the opposite side of the vale as well as the longer fairways. I started at the 4th fairway where the hills can be seen with minimal colors as yet.

Then a shot looking down the 7th fairway towards the green.
The par 5 9th is long and wide and f the colors come out as in the past they will offer a beautiful and sometimes distracting view.

Entering or leaving the park, one passes along Merriman pond which will typically offer rows of colors and when the lighting is just right, the reflections off the water.

Over the next few weeks, as long as the trees are in agreement, I will offer the changes.  Below is the link to the first of this year's series.

Ed, it's interesting how different areas experience the changing colors at different times. We're not there yet.

Good morning Ed. Don't golf anymore but I could be coaxed to play that course just to take in the view. We recently moved out to the far suburbs of Chicago and are getting to view some great fall colors. Enjoy your day.

Wow, those are some amazing views and I love the colors!  I always enjoyed hitting from elevated tees, it felt like I could hit the ball 500 yards, haha.

Brian England   Elevated tees to give that illusion and its even better when hitting from high elevations where the air is thinner, and they do go further.

Hello Ed and I love it back east this time of year.  My wife is proud of the gold trees in Colorado but see never saw anything from back east till I took her back in October and we did the New England state, she was so taken with it.

Will Hamm   I have seen a lot of those golf color in my travels, but nothing is as beautiful as the variety we get in New England with all the different hardwood trees.

Hi Ed,
Fall is my favorite for the milder temperatures and the amazing changing colors of nature.  Is that frost I see in some of your shots?

Oct 06, 2024 12:02 PM
Ed Silva, 203-206-0754

Carol Williams   The colors are starting very nicely so far. That's early morning dew, but the frost won't be very far behind.

My wife would be very jealous of all the color Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 . We rarely see red leaves except for our grape vine.

Bob "RealMan" Timm   We get a lot of reds and shades of orange, and they blend nicely.

This is awesome Ed!  I love to experience the fall colors through other members as we don't get to see any changes, as you know in PHX.  Your photos are so pretty! I lived on a golf course up north and your course so reminds me of the one we lived on.  The fall colors were so pretty.  I really look forward to seeing your upcoming fall color posts!  Makes me smile thinking of it.  It like a little fall break for me!!🍂

Anna "Banana" Kruchten   It seems as though the leaves are turning quickly this year. A little rain on this Monday morning will help as well.

Do the spines on cacti change colors?

LOL nope cacti stays the same all year long.....except for when it flowers!
