We have been experiencing 60 mph winds all day and it is causing a lot of damage all over town. In my little world large branches have blown off the tree in our back yard.
While blogging earlier today my son came to me and said the tree outside his window split in half. This is a huge concern as that this big tree is about 10 feet from the house.
My house is the one in the banner. If you look close threw the split you will see the wind also blew down or TV antenna that has stood over 20 years.
Then the big event. Across the street from my house is the historic baseball diamond, Corbett Field. Some property of theirs blew over to our yard and I was returning it being I saw the grounds keeper (Todd) just about to leave. He had shut one side of the gate, a gate about 6' high and 20' wide.
Looking at the pic above I was standing further to the right and facing the gate. Todd and my son Timmothy were standing further right. A gust greater then the 50 MPH steady wind came up, lifted the gate in the air out of the post you see anchoring it and swang out about 12 feet hitting me square on face first. Todd and Timmothy tell me it threw me 6 feet through the air and I landed on my back on the pavement. I don't remember a thing. I did get my first ambulance ride however an a pleasant 2 hour stay in the emergency room. Lucky for me no concussion and my shoulder replacement stayed in place.
I've got pictures of what my head looks like from being slammed into the pavement and the large blood stain on the parking lot but I'll spare you from seeing that.
