Friday Flags: A Bank Office That Shows Its Pride

A drive on Rt 63 in Naugatuck, CT on a bit of a windy day offered me a number of opportunities to take some flag photos.

I stopped for the first flutter I saw and by the time I got out pf the car the wind had subsided.

The building is the main offices of Ion Bank, which is memory is right are the administrative offices of what was once Naugatuck Savings Bank. 

As I wasn't in a rush, so I waited a few minutes to see if I would get a better shot. My flag patience is often rewarded, and I succeeded.

I pass a lot of banks and don't understand why more don't display the flag. Maybe some accountant believes that the time spent to raise and lower it daily cuts into profits?

Nina Hollander, Broker   some are into tight locations especially in downtown areas but satellite offices start with a clean slate.

Hello Ed - beyond the flags shown, your post today reminds me of how I often "test" my "memory" by attempting to identify the history of banks in the same location. It's a banking examination I admittedly fail far too often.  So many changes/evolutions in that industry too.

Michael Jacobs   I started to consider some of the banks in the area and I can look at one building in Waterbury and the same bank had 4 name change/mergers and now is just closed.

Ed, You captured another fantastic shot. I’d imagine every bank would want to display the flag with pride. Haven't really noticed that some don't have one.

Ed, always glad to see your Friday flags.  I thought of you driving home from Reno, saw the biggest flag I think I have ever seen, off the highway.  ALMOST turned around to take a photo, but there was no wind.

What a coincidence! I drove by a bank in my community today that flies the Flag Of Freedom. I thought, "I should take a picture of the flag flying and post it."

That's a great shot Ed!  I too enjoy driving around town and seeing all the awesome flags flying proudly in the air.  I"ll have to see how many banks fly the flag.  I know ours does for sure.  There are also a lot of car dealers that fly massive flags.
