There are times when you wish that time would not pass, and that everything would just keep carrying on as it is right now. Especially when one is busy, and making sales, taking listings. You get in "flow" and all is good.
Then there are those times when you wish they would just fly past. The past month has been one of those. From a bank deciding on the day of settlement that they would not fund a mortgage for which they had given a pre approval and a mortgage commitment. Loss of income is never nice, and when your buyer then feels you have not been protecting them because the seller refuses to sign the release of deposit notice, it all feels like why do I bother. Threats of a lawsuit from the seller. Another buyer client who had to put on hold their purchase as their landlord after saying he would let them out of their lease if they found something to buy reneged on that promise. A car accident. And then this week a health scare.
Wednesday night I was sitting down and as I prepared to get up, I moved my right leg in such a way there was a grating feeling, and then a sudden crack, so loud that I was concerned I had done something to my one year old knee implant on that leg. The sudden rush of pain and the lack of strength in the knee worried me. The time being late, there was nothing to do, but hobble around and wait for the morning hoping it might feel better. Thursday morning I had to make a decision, I called my surgeon and was told he had no appointments available, but I could go to a walk in clinic where they would Xray and see if I had done any damage. I got a neighbor to drive me to the clinic and luckily everything went very fast from Xray to seeing a PA who told me that my knee implants looked fine comparing it to Xrays done in March. However, I might have loosened a piece of scar tissue, that can be very painful and possibly damaged the LCL. They gave me a brace for the knee, stronger and heavier than what i had pulled on that morning. They also suggested using a cane for support. An anti-inflammatory drug was also pre-scribed. Rest, elevate and ice for the rest of the day.
I am very good at following directions, usually, however with a dog at home there was some walks that were needed and I had to collect my car from the repair shop following the accident, luckily I was able to drive and then cook dinner as Annie was going to be late. The dog walks actually were good, slow, but as we now have a buggy for Jackie due to her health issues it acted like a walker. Dinner was relatively easy, Saag Paneer, curried spinach with cheese, and a baba ghanoush. My leg felt better having elevated it and by this morning the pain was not as intense and the leg whilst not perfect yet felt much better.
So, in the midst of these challenges, I did win the lottery, $4.00, not much but a positive. Last night as we walked Jackie for her bedtime walk we looked up at the very clear night sky seeing all the stars and the Aurora Borealis, right here in our neighborhood. It was beautiful, reds and greens visible in the night sky.
It let me realize that these challenges strengthen us, we keep carrying on even in the face of headwinds. However, bad it is, this too will pass, and things will improve. So, looking up and forward to some a better times.
If you are facing challenges don't focus on labelling these things as good or bad, they just are and will pass. How you choose to react, or respond, will help you move forward. Look for the positives and enjoy those as life carries on around you. Keep smiling, keep loving those around you, and give someone a hug, virtual or real. It makes you feel better as well.
