New Home By Thanksgiving Can It Be Done?

Yes! It is possible to be in your new home by Thanksgiving.

Are You Ready to Move? Let's Find the Right House!

Are you thinking about moving before Thanksgiving?

If so, there are a few important questions to consider. Moving can be complex, but proper planning and preparation can be a smooth and successful transition.

First, are you completely ready for this big step? Ask yourself: Are your finances in place?  Do you have your earnest money ready? Do you have proof of funds if you plan to pay in cash? Is your family willing to assist you with the purchase? A clear understanding of your financial situation and a solid plan is crucial before diving into home-buying.

If you require a lender, getting pre-qualified and being prepared to act swiftly when the right property comes along is important. Having a lender in place and being pre-qualified can give you a competitive edge in the housing market.

Additionally, coordinating the moving process and aligning dates can be challenging. It's important to have a plan to organize the move and make sure everything aligns seamlessly with the closing date.

On the seller's side, it's also important to consider their readiness. Is the house vacant, or can it be by Thanksgiving?  Do the sellers have a clear title? These are factors that can affect the timeline and smoothness of the transaction.

Having a reliable real estate agent by your side can make a difference. A skilled agent can help you find the right home, negotiate on your behalf, work with your lender and title company, and ensure that all necessary inspections, appraisals, surveys, and title insurance are handled.

While the process may seem daunting, with 47 days left until Thanksgiving, there is still time to move if you start now. It won't necessarily be easy, but it can certainly be done with proper planning and the right support.

So, if you're ready to find the right house and move before Thanksgiving, now is the time to get started!

Margaret, your post offers excellent guidance for buyers looking to move before Thanksgiving. With the right preparation—finances in order, pre-qualification, and a reliable agent—closing on a new home within 47 days is definitely achievable. It’s all about taking swift, informed action and aligning both buyer and seller timelines.

Dennis Neal, I talked about buying and moving on today's radio show and asked if anyone plans to try to accomplish this by Thanksgiving.

Hi Margaret,
There is still time to make a move before Thanksgiving but a good solid plan is critical. I remember one of our moves was just before Thanksgiving, and we hosted. That was interesting since we weren't completely unpacked. I'm not sure what we were thinking to do that. 😂

Margaret there is about 2 1/2 months to Thanksgiving.  From a Lenders prospective once a home is found and a purchased agreement signed, a 30 closing is very possible.

My last Costco chicken looked like that Turkey. Hey wait a minute, thats a great idea for this Thanksgiving. I already get the pre-whipped potatoes, no more peeling. Jeff

That enormous turkey filled that huge platter; you are right; it looks more like a chicken. :) You certainly know how to simplify your meals.

Good morning, Margaret... no reason one can't be in a new home by Thanksgiving if they are truly motivated and have the right professional like yourself helping them.

I have a couple of houses we are getting ready to list this month. It would be pretty neat if they also sold by Thanksgiving!

This ain't no turkey trot for sissies! Heck if needed we could get a home closed in a week or so if needed (cash deal). A few years ago a couple was going to be leaving for Turkey and the Middle East for an extended visit but wanted to get a house bought and closed before they left in a few weeks.  The wife didn't believe me that, OF COURSE, we can get it closed before you leave. And contractors can do the work needed while you gone.  Done deal.  We did and she still talks about her disbelief to this day (they're neighbors of ours)!
