It is a good question to ponder, as my friend Michael Jacobs may say. The answer is likely different with each brokerage, and with each agent. On some occasions, poorly trained agents take a few conversations to flush out. With a seasonal pro, it is typically obvious from the onset.
I have had some jaw-dropping experiences in the last few weeks / months with the following:
1. Getting a return courtesy call back from another agent. As in none.
2. Having agents at an open house discuss specific seller commissions on their listings.
3. Poorly prepared / assumed / incorrect contracts which were not signable by my seller client.
4. Agents "show me their clients hand". Maybe my least favorite.
5. Obviously unprepared agents--too many examples to cite.
My point of this post is simple-- certain broker allocated training classes are integral to the professionalism of our industry.
I love what I do, and I respect our industry. We can do better.
