October 2024 Challenge…Where Do I Start??
The October 2024 ActiveRain Tech Tools Challenge (hosted by Carol Williams and Frank Worrell) has been fun to read! Those who know me know that I love my apps!!! I was ready to start writing my post the minute I saw the challenge…however…which app to choose????
It’s like a parent choosing their favorite child. The three I chose are for personal use. I use them everyday and they’re easy to use.
Sharon Tara shared this with me over 8 years ago and we use it all of the time. Life 360 is a permission based app that tracks your cell phone. When I was staging, I gave Larry the address, whether it was a consultation or vacant home staging. Even with this information, he could track my phone with this app.
When we lived in FL, Larry was always off kayaking, flying his RC Plane, or hiking…very often by himself. Life 360 let me know where he was. It wasn’t as if I needed to “track his every move” however, when he flew his planes, he could have been anywhere in 2 or 3 counties. I would not have known where to begin looking for him!
There is a FREE version, which I use and it fits my needs. It offers SOS Alerts and Crash Detection.
If you have Tiles, you can locate them through Life 360.
My sweet cousin’s husband introduced me to this several years ago after I saw it on his Facebook page. You take a short video or photo every day. Inside the app, you choose which video or photo you want to use each day.
At the end of the year it will “sew” them together and you have a video of your previous year! It’s fun to do!
When we retired, I no longer had to maintain a calendar full of appointments. I was happy to rid myself of paper, which I am always trying to do.
This is not a must-have app for me. However, it helps me know where I’ve been and how I’ve spent my day. As long as my phone is with me, it presents me with a pie-chart of time spent running errands or with family, for example. It learns places you go to and if it’s not sure you can manually edit it.
Why have this? As I said, it’s not a must-have for me, however, there are times when I want to know when or where I went somewhere. This shows me. I don’t have to input anything in my app or enter something in a calendar.
If you viewed these apps they have something in common…they are intrusive. That is to say, they know where I am or what I’ve done.
Am I paranoid about it? Not overly so. These days there are cameras everywhere and I’m just a small fish in a huge pond. But these work for me when I need them!!!
