With so many different places and ways to spend your time, why should ActiveRain have even a minute of your day?
Over the 18 years since we joined ActiveRain, we've put in a LOT of minutes in the Rain and still find value in the community.
Why keep coming back?
The short answer, "It's the people".
The people here come and go, but the core culture lives on because the membership keeps it going. A pay it forward mentality that fosters sharing information, helping each other, and forming bonds well beyond what you'd expect from people you will (mostly) never meet in real life (engineer brain sounding alarm...Bill, you're heading towards touchy feely stuff, hit Reverse!!!).
While ActiveRain isn't immune from gasholes, most people that fit the category move on after kicking people in the shins until they learn that trolls aren't welcome here. Playing well in the sandbox is key to being an accepted member of this community.
I've spent enough time in real estate communities outside of the Rain and the difference is clear.
Most of them feature pundits who make their living doing the Chicken Little routine about the current disruptor that is going to destroy real estate business as we know it. Yawwwwwn....
Referral groups that claim to be brand agnositic, but the reality is proof against the claim.
Ask a question and get 20 AYB responses (not that sometimes that isn't the EXACT right answer).
The only real estate Facebook groups I still participate in are groups that were formed by ActiveRain members. Just like ActiveRain itself, they may not be as active as they once were, but the bonds are still there. I'd give any of those people a referral without a second thought.
Scrolling the blog roll I can find solid information about marketing techniques, real estate war stories, the latest trends, thoughts about the business, all without excess drama (mostly). Some faces have been here for many years, and other new members just now finding the Rain.
Have a question? The Q&A section is a great place to get input.
Do it right and you've got a network that spans the U.S. and Canada.
The positive far outweighs the negatives, and that brings me back to this community day after day.
Until next Tuesday, just Ask An Ambassador if you need help,
