"If you can't run, then walk. If you can't walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving.” -Martin Luther King Jr.
Today's letter is J. The obvious choice for this letter was "Joy," but I think we've covered the premise of joy in some of the other letters. I know you love animals, so I thought it would be fun to turn to the animal kingdom.
Today's inspiration comes from Jackrabbits:
Jackrabbits have an amazing ability to change directions instantly when being pursued by predators. This agility keeps them alive in the wild. Like the jackrabbit, it’s crucial to stay flexible and be able to adapt rather than stubbornly sticking to one path. Being agile means you can change course when something isn't working and find alternative ways to achieve your goals. Embracing this mindset encourages problem-solving, which is key to success when the world seems to be putting all kinds of roadblocks in your way.
Jackrabbits are fast! They can reach up to 40 miles per hour in short bursts when necessary to escape predators. This teaches us that there are times when swift, focused action is essential. Being able to quickly prioritize and move efficiently toward a goal can make all the difference. Whether it’s making a fast decision, completing a task quickly, or taking immediate action when an opportunity arises, speed can often be an ally. However, this lesson isn’t just about physical speed, but also about mental agility and knowing when to act decisively.
Jackrabbits are always on alert and aware of their surroundings. They have large ears, and keen senses, which help them stay highly aware of their environment, constantly on the lookout for danger. This is a reminder to be mindful of our surroundings. The world we live in is becoming more of a wild adventure every day, and there are "predators" everywhere. It involves emotional awareness, tuning into how others feel, or noticing subtle cues in a conversation. By sharpening our sense of awareness, we can make better decisions, avoid pitfalls, and seize opportunities that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Jackrabbits are resilient. They are masters of survival, often living in arid, challenging environments with extreme temperatures. Their resilience in the face of harsh conditions teaches us the importance of perseverance and the ability to thrive even when things are tough. Life doesn’t always present ideal circumstances. However, like the jackrabbit, we can adapt and do what is necessary to change our situation. When you cultivate resilience, you not only survive but thrive through adversity.
While jackrabbits can have great bursts of speed, they also understand the importance of rest. They often stay motionless for long periods to conserve energy and remain unnoticed by predators. This reminds us of the importance of balance between action and rest. In our crazy, fast-paced lives, it can be tempting to push ourselves constantly, but knowing when to pause and recharge is essential for long-term well-being. Just as the jackrabbit uses rest as a strategy for survival, we must also use rest periods to rejuvenate and prepare for whatever lies ahead.
By channeling your inner Jackrabbit, you can navigate both the fast-paced and quiet moments.
I will close with the scripture from Joshua 1:9
" Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Love,
