Workaround Wondering

On A Wednesday But

The Process Can Occur

Any Day. . .

Life happens.  And sometimes lots of $^!+ does too.  Such is life, some say.  The other day, and no it wasn’t a midweek mishap either, a minor disruption became a part of what was happening around me.

And since some of it was my doing, there is no need to do a deep dive into the details. It seems to me that workarounds can occur whenever possibilities and positive vibes come together when things seem to be turning in a negative direction. Maybe such solutions are not found as quickly as I prefer but there are plenty of examples of things being resolved.  Not completely nor perfectly but once again, just right for the situation and the circumstances.  This particular time things worked out.  Thankfully. Even for this still somewhat cynical guy.

This occurrence serves as a reminder that some things are fixable.  Not everything, of course.  Nonetheless workarounds can be wonderful. Whenever they occur.

Here's to good memories and celebrating good times. They can occur quite often. Sometimes when you are observing life around you. Be on the lookout. Always.

Good morning, Michael... I agree. When obstacles fall into one's path, it's time to think about work-arounds... and funnily enough, those work-arounds always seem to present themselves.

Nina Hollander, Broker - yes, such things are often apparent.  Or is that a parent as in "the mother of invention" or a dad-equivalent concept.  Happy Wednesday.

Michael Jacobs the best thing I ever learned at the Harvard Business School was decision tree theory... which basically sets out a premise and you are always asking if x happens then what. I've found that lots of people don't know how to keeping asking if this, what then?

Nina Hollander, Broker - I have seen you and others previously reference the tree theory.  Its obvious to me that it gets to the root of the issue as well as the growth that remains an infinite possibility.

Good morning Michael,

I love your outlook! %&#@! happens and it's how we deal with it. Always best to look at the work arounds and repair or fix and move on. Life is short and to keep positive is the best way to look at life challenges.

Dorie Dillard Austin TX - such things may not reveal themselves at first but pausing and perspective plays a role.  How's that for pondering potential?

Michael, every day (7 days a week) I either walk or run. It is always between 2-5 miles depending on how I feel...and a day NEVER by without some heavy pondering during those jaunts.

Hi Michael,
It seems that nary a day goes by without some workaround or problem-solving opportunity. It's become a way of life. We, of course, need to ponder a bit before the resolution comes to mind. 😂

Michael Jacobs - although challenges are many, it's best not cave in to a pity party and that is what's admirable about you. "Workarounds," accepting thing things we cannot change and changing the things we can, are considered very virtuous. The mind is part of the human body. Having a strong mind is equally important.

I wish you the best today, tomorrow, and always.

Patricia Feager, ABR,CRS,GRI,MRP - declining a pity party invitation especially to one that is self-generated may be an excellent idea.  Such regrets could lead to some remarkable outcomes.

Hello Michael,

Sometimes, like a mischievous cat, life decides to knock over your favorite mug when you need coffee the most. Having a workaround is like discovering an extra slice of cake hiding in the fridge in those moments.

That tiny, tickly gremlin whispering practical jokes and sage advice is nestled just behind our ear. Its nagging presence helps us dodge the banana peels of despair and surf the tidal waves of chaos with style and a splash of humor.🙃

I cherish humility, a precious rarity in our chosen profession amidst a sea of arrogance. Yet, it is always heartwarming to see someone express gratitude through humility; hence, your thankful thoughts are never unworthy!

Aura Alex - the imagery offered in your comment is bountiful and my thankful thoughts seem quite unworthy by comparison.  I appreciate your kind words.  They are memorable.

Michael Jacobs when I was an active Realtor work arounds were a daily thing, not so much today except when it comes to traffic. We had a lot of work arounds traveling to and from Milwaukee last week. Navigating by Google Maps had us learning a lot of new traffic routes. 🤪

Oct 23, 2024 10:50 AM
Michael Jacobs

Bob "RealMan" Timm - traffic continues to show us the effectiveness of a workaround, doesn't it?  Even some of the terms we use.  Roundabouts - short cuts - detours - merging - yield. . .  🚘 Collision Ahead.  Likely preceded by some confusion.

Michael this very well may be the best advice anybody could give - seriously. I've had so many things to work around this past 8 months and it was up to me to continually find the positive in each situation and, as you know, sometimes that ain't so easy. But...if we keep trying and follow your advice we'll get there sooner or later.

Anna "Banana" Kruchten - some stuff is on display for all, maybe many or just a few, to see.   Other disruptions may fly under the radar.  Collectively, it lands differently in any situation, right?

Thank you for the spotlight within the BananaTude group.  I appreciate it.  🐒

That's for sure Michael we don't know where 'it's' going to land but with time and wisdom we have a pretty good hunch. But then.....something new flies in the door!  All bets are off.  A good friend of mine called me today and we basically chatted about this very subject as she's been dealing with serious issues going on with her sister. She  tries to find the  'grateful' positive thing to focus on and sometimes that's the best thing to do.

Hi Michael, After reading your post regarding "work arounds", I couldn't help but think that is a very common strategy we realtors use in this business. Many times things don't go exactly as planned. It requires us to switch direction and see if we can make it work.

Hi Michael,  Workarounds become necessary in our daily lives.  I avoid feeling negative, but instead see a workaround as a challenge.

You too have that positive outlook.

Jennifer Fivelsdal - workarounds are definitely a part of life. And they are in evidence in countless ways.  I try to be/stay positive - there are moments where that challenge is a bit more intense.
