I am honored to be part of the incredible “Queen B’s” team for the Susan G. Komen “MORE THAN PINK WALK” happening this Sunday, October 27th, 2024 at Barton Creek Square, 2901 S Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX, 78746. Map it. Our Queen B's team has raised over $10,000 this year!
For the past four years, I’ve proudly walked to raise money and awareness for breast cancer, standing in solidarity with the millions of women who have been impacted by this disease. This cause holds a special place in my heart as I walk in support of my dear friend Bianca Vanderberg, who was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer in May, 2021, as well as some close friends and colleagues. I won't be walking this year as I'll be in Nashville but I exceeded my personal goal for the team so am happy!
Bianca’s strength and courage are nothing short of inspiring. She is a devoted wife, a loving mother to two adorable boys, a sister, and a friend to so many. Her journey has brought together a powerful network of prayer warriors, family, friends, and supporters who rally behind her. She faces her diagnosis with grace and resilience, reminding us daily of the importance of love, faith, and community.
Participating in this event is one of the most rewarding and heartwarming experiences for me. The “Queen B’s” team, our vibrant beehive, truly exemplifies the spirit of unity and determination. We proudly wear our pink shirts, with the verse on the back from 2 Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness,” reminding us of the strength we find in moments of vulnerability.
As we walk together, we carry the hope that one day soon, a cure will be found. Until then, we must continue to raise awareness and support the Komen Foundation’s mission to combat this disease. I am proud to support the men and women who share this mission, and I invite you to keep hope alive. As Maya Angelou so beautifully said, “Hope and fear cannot occupy the same space at the same time. Invite one to stay.”
Together, let’s make an impact!
