Do you have the courage to face demons, eerie forests, and plenty of jump scares? These haunted trails provide thrilling and creative experiences that will keep you on edge. From spooky fairy tales to intense escape rooms, these places promise a frightening adventure.

1. Fields of Fear

Cox Farms has four exciting attractions that offer both fun and scares. The Cornightmare, their original haunted trail, is full of creepy surprises from live actors. For more frights, try the Dark Side Hayride or walk through The Forest, a half-mile trail with spooky encounters and giant spiders. When you need a break, visit The Firegrounds for big slides, dancing, karaoke, and fire tricks.

2. Madhaunter's Madhouse

This haunted attraction has been named Virginia’s "Top Haunt" by Frightfind for five years. It’s filled with actors dressed as clowns, ghouls, and skeletons, offering plenty of scares. New this year is a spooky escape room. Parking is free, and it’s best for ages 13 and up.

3. Twisted Tales of Terror

This haunt takes you through the old Lorton prison, where fairy tales like Little Red Riding Hood turn into scary stories. Small groups are led through a creepy carnival with spooky characters and surprises. After, head to the Groove Yard for a Halloween DJ, themed drinks, and food trucks.

4. Haunted Nightmares

Hill High Farm has thrills for everyone, with milder haunts during the day for kids. After 6 p.m., the scares get more intense as live actors take over. Along with the haunted trails, you can try the escape room or experience the spooky "buried alive" simulator.

5. DarkWood Manor Haunted House

DarkWood Manor introduces a new story and characters each year. This time, Phantom Forge brings demons and spirits to life in a scary new chapter. The experience lasts 15 to 20 minutes and is recommended for ages 10 and up.
