Fall Has arrived once again in Connecticut, which means it is time for me to begin my Progression Of Fall Colors series I started twelve years ago.  This is a series I hoped to continue for many years, and have been able to do so far, however, this year I have started maybe a week to late.

The first two years of this series, the pictures were of a farm which is only about a minute walk from my house.  Ten years ago I decided to change the location for the 2014 Progression Of Fall Color Series to a lake about 5 minutes from my house on RT17.  I tried that location for two years, but the colors were not as good as I expected them to be.  So eight years ago I decided to change locations again to a site at Lyman's Orchards in Middlefield, CT.  But once again that site did not produce the colors I had hoped for, so four year ago I decided to keep it simple and do my Progression of Fall Colors blog in my back yard.   Then two year ago I decided to change locations again, but even though the colors were good, it was not what I expected.  So last year decided to do my progression of Fall colors once again of my backyard again.  The colors in the past have been good in this location, and this year they were a little better than in the past few years.  However, this year the Fall Season seems to be about a week ahead of past years.

The first picture below for this year's Progression Of Fall Colors series was taken earlier three weeks ago just as the colors were starting to change.  I usually try to take the first picture before the colors start to change, but I was a little late this year.  So the colors have already started to change a little in this first picture.  The second picture below was taken at the beginning of two weeks ago.  The third picture below was taken at the end of two weeks ago, so a little less than a week from the second one.  As you can see there is noticeable change between all three pictures, and the colors this week are becoming a little more vivid.   The forth picture was taken this past Sunday, and the colors have changed significantly from the prior week.  In fact this will most likely be the peak for this year's Fall colors.  By the time I post the next blog the trees will have started to noticeably lose their leaves.  As I have done for the last twelve years, I will post pictures of this same spot at different points throughout the Fall to show the progression of the Fall colors.

Fall is a beautiful time of the year in New England, and even though the last couple of years have been better than some of the earlier years of this series, they still have not had the pop I have been looking for, even though there was an improvement this year.  I have become spoiled by the beautiful colors we normally see during the Fall, so I might be a little more critical than most.  My favorite colors are the trees with yellow, orange, and rust color leafs when they blend together.

Anyone planning to come to New England to enjoy our Fall colors at their peak, should plan on coming between the last two weeks in October to the beginning of November.  As I mentioned earlier we are now at the peak of our Fall colors this year, and the change in colors has happened more rapidly than in the past.  I will continue to post until the trees have lost all or most of their leaves.

Fall Has Arrived, and now starting to draw to the end of our Fall colors In Middletown, Connecticut and I hope you are enjoying following my series of the change in Fall colors this year starting with the First Blog Of The 2024 Progression Of Fall Colors In Middletown, CT. to the last.

Hi George- that last picture is stunning!!!  I'd say that going back to your own yard was a wise choice!!!  It's hard to believe that in a blink, the leaves will be gone.

Thanks for the New England colors of Fall George Souto. Your dedication to keep this series going is praiseworthy. It looks like the colors peaked in that last photo, but I hope you get to enjoy them for a bit more time. They are so lovely!

Hi George,
I'm enjoying the progression. They'll be prime soon. My brother and his wife are visiting this week, so we took a 4-hour Fall colors drive yesterday. It was lovely.
