Timmothy and I purchased our pumpkins last week. We have not painted faces on them but will most likely carve them on Halloween Eve. In general we keep them pretty simple. We believe that pumpkins and costumes are best when intended to be viewed by little children.

I miss the days of throngs of children would come to our door for treats. Now a days we are lucky to see one or two. We still purchase enough candy to treat 30 kids but I'm the one who usually ends up eating the candy, thus Carol buys Heath bars as they are my favorite.

I am a Christian man and when I think about Halloween I think about kids having fun and people being generous with candy. You are free to think what ever you want about Halloween.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. Good morning, Bob... I agree with you on your thoughts about Halloween. For me it's also about Reformation Day... having attended Lutheran Schools from 1st grade through 12th grade, the day that Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the door of All Saints Church in Wittenberg was a day we celebrated first in chapel before celebrating the candy!

Will Hamm I remember trick or treating when I was around 14 until 9PM and people said "what the heck!".

Hi Bob- Halloween for me is about kids having fun, costumes, and lots of candy!!!! We need to give our children as much fun as they can have.

I agree Kathy Streib . Kids are growing up with far more stress then we did so Halloween is a well deserved break for them.
