Fernandomania on a Friday. . .
Those who follow my AR posts will not be surprised to read I am not a big sports fan. However, the recent death of pitching phenonium Fernando Valenzuela reminds me there can be home-run-like impact beyond any stadium or field where baseball is played. Especially in Southern California. And certainly beyond Chavez Ravine where the Los Angeles Dodgers have played their home games since 1962.
Like many parts of history, there are many wins and more than a few losses in the scorecards that are kept, the trades that have been made and the strikes that have been recorded.
Cheers, jeers and tears are a part of the game. From participants and spectators. And expressed in many interpretations. Any experience seems to have these factors in their lineup.
As November starts and the 2024 World Series now has a champion, Happy Birthday wishes to a man gone too soon, Fernando Valenzuela.
Cue, those famous Randy Newman lyrics.
