Some people love to travel, some people love being at home. While I "get" enjoying seeing the world I am just fine with my world being Home and maybe a 50 mile radius there of.

I admit that doesn't seem very adventurous but I believe if I wanted to explore every square mile of that radius I would be surprised of all that space holds for me.

I will, of course, travel out side of that radius to visit family and friends in Denver, Omaha, Milwaukee, Atlantic City, Chandler, and hopefully Charlotte NC. I will most likely travel by train or like Titus, by air plane. No more 10 to 14 hour automobile drives for me.

When I am home I can travel through time and see my children grow from infants to adults, right where it happened. Our home was/is a safe place filled with an abundance of love and joyful memories. 

THIS IS A REAL ESTATE BLOG

If you are looking for your "forever" home I hope you consider what I have been saying. Children don't care how big a home is. They don't care about the size of the garage or the BIG toys you adults covet or own. Children want four walls filled with love. That is the home their harts will always remember and desire.

Hello Bob - Charlottesville?  Do you mean Charlotte?  To the point in your post, I get it.  I feel fortunate to have traveled overseas a lot when I was younger, but time has taught me there is still much to see stateside.  Sometimes, not too far from home too.

Exactly Kat Palmiotti . My kids never cared about things like "are we rich" and "are you important daddy" etc? They loved the environment we provided which included a lot of love.

Good morning Bob. Home is where the heart is. My son has lived in 5 homes before going off to college and never really returning.  We have lived in many more and even relocated from a dream home to Chicago to be closer to my son. While we have traveled  over the years, we now prefer to stay home and play with the grandkids. Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin I think you know that I am preparing for the painful decision to possibly move to Cheese Head territory. Just saying that hurts but if that is where my grandchildren are going to be raised that is where my heart will be.

Bob "RealMan" Timm - in my case it was a financial disaster, but from a family stand point it was a home run. Wouldn't have it any other way. Off to spend a couple of days with the grandkids tomorrow. Hoping my son will move closer soon. We are enjoying the super far suburbs.

Good morning, Bob... your take on what children want in a home is spot on! I've travelled extensively throughout my life all over the USA and the world, both personally and professionally. While there might be a few places I'd still like to visit, on the whole, the travel bug has left me. I'm quite happy in my home.

Hello Bob with my wife retiring the end of this year, she wants to do lots of traveling to St. Augustine in January, Phoenix in February, Ireland maybe in April, Ohio and Pennsylvania in May and Yellowstone in July,  so far that is all she mention.

Hi Bob what a lovely post!  It really is a simple as that.....kids just want a home that is filled with love!  And to each their own as far as to travel or not to travel!  We have some friends that I swear are traveling almost every 2 or 3 weeks and they love it.  All over the world.  Personally that's not my gig but I do enjoy seeing their pictures and hearing about their adventures.  I think they're in Scotland right now. My brother that lives near Alexandria MN doesn't like to travel at all.  And he's perfectly happy~

Hey it's all good! Gary traveled so much while he was working and honestly he got pretty tired of airports, hotels etc etc.  So he's not big on lots of traveling either which is fine by me right now.  Especially now, WOW the weather here in PHX is finally back to perfect for the next 8 or 9 months and I sure as heck am not going anyplace colder!!

The "house" from my early childhood was not nearly as nice as the one we moved to when our parents died, yet I have more fond memories of that "home."

I love traveling AND being home. Although I've lost much of my desire to travel internationally, I do love my road trips around the United States. I enjoy spending time with new and interesting people (and getting out of the cold winter weather).  When I am home, I love being home. It's the best of both worlds.

BTW: I didn't see Wenatchee, Washington on your list of places to visit. 😦

I am so glad that this was featured in the second chance Saturday. I just got back from a long trip well 10 days that seemed long to me. I was so glad to come home. Living in DC there is so much to explore. I never need to leave except to see family and friends.

Oh, funny but, my hubby and I just planned 3 travel events in the next 10 months, Bob! We love being at home but, want to see the world as well. We love a combination of each and know that one day, we will need to stay closer to home so, we're taking advantage of travel while we're still young (well, young-ish!)!
