On October 30, 2024, National Association of Realtors® (NAR) reported that nationwide pending contract signed home sales rose 7.4% to an index of 75.8 in September of 2024 from August of 2024, and up 2.6% from September of 2023.
Pending home sales index in the Northeast gained 6.5% to an index of 65.6 in September of 2024 from August 2024, and grew 3.3% from September of 2023.
Pending home sales index in the Midwest higher 7.1% to an index of 75.0 in September of 2024 from August 2024, but unchanged 0.0% from September of 2023.
Pending home sales index in the South surged 6.7% to an index of 89.0 in September of 2024 from August 2024, but identical 0.0% from September of 2023.
Pending home sales index in the West increased 9.8% to an index of 64.0 in September of 2024 from August 2024, and jumped 12.9% from September of 2023.
Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, stated “During the next two years, expect a slower rate of growth in home prices that’s roughly in line with the consumer price index because of additional supply reaching the market.”
