This past Friday I had the wonderful opportunity to meet up with several Active Rain Friends in Philadelphia when Brian England who got to show me his British passport as well, was visiting town. Hannah Williams and Michael Elliott joined us along with Brian's partner Tess.
Brian had chosen a wonderful location in Philadelphia right off Rittenhouse Square called Parc, so I chose to use my new SEPTA Senior Fare Card that gives me free use of the Regional Rail and other SEPTA services such as trolleys and busses. I went to our brand new Wawa Station, yes there is a place called Wawa, and yes Wawa Stores have their farm and headquarters there.
It is a convenient service right into center city Philadelphia, taking just under an hour traveling through Delaware County, much more relaxing than driving and then trying to find a parking place. I travelled to Suburban Station a short 10 minute walk to the restaurant and got there a little before Hannah and Michael.
Parc is situated on 18th Street on Rittenhouse Square and Brian had gotten a table outside on this beautiful Fall Day on Locust Street.
Parc is a lovely restaurant, large and airy like a French Bistro and their menu I am told is very similar To Balthazar in New York in looks and the items on it. We had a wonderful meal but the best part was meeting up with friends and colleagues who you read and comment on their posts, and they do yours from across town and the country. One of the things I love when I am travelling is trying to connect with other Active Rainers. I am so pleased Brian took the opportunity to set this up and we were all able to make the date.
After lunch I walked with Brain and Tess to a local ice cream shop Jenni's which was very good and then I caught the train home. A very relaxed day having fun and relaxing with friends. One of the benefits of getting older, along with my SEPTA Senior Far Card.
These are easy to get once you reach 65, you simply go to your local state representative's office and they can help you make the application, take your photo, submit it for you and several weeks later it arrives in the mail ready for use.
This was so easy, I am persuading Annie my wife, who is having her application completed this week to make more trips into Philadelphia to see the city more.
