Grateful It Was Not My Right Arm

By

I am thankful it was not my right arm!

Recently, I landed a fabulous new listing and met with my professional photographer to get photos for the MLS and my advertising. However, amidst all the excitement, I had an accident and managed to break my left wrist! It’s a funny twist of fate, but I’m genuinely grateful it wasn’t my right arm—that would have made things much more complicated.

A big shoutout goes to my friend, who drove me to the hospital and treated me with candy—after all, it was Halloween. My favorite orthopedist saw me immediately, took x-rays, explained the break, immobilized the arm, and made sure I got the care I needed without any long waits.

Now, let’s talk about this incredible new futuristic cast I have! Initially, it was just a flat sheet of black plastic, but when heated, it molded perfectly to my arm. It’s called a FASTFORM, and I genuinely think it’s such an incredible innovation. It must have been created with AI.

There’s so much to appreciate about it—it’s lightweight, breathable, removable, and waterproof!

Despite my setback, I’m finding joy and support around me. Life may bring unexpected challenges, but I embrace gratitude and celebrate the positive moments that come my way. I am still putting listings in, uploading pictures to the MLS, taking calls, and making appointments. But I am doing these things a bit more slowly.

This is my entry for November's Grateful contest hosted by Debe Maxwell, CRS.

Great idea regarding the cast! I'm sorry to hear you broke your wrist, but glad it's not your dominant one wrist. Wishing you a fast recovery period!

Oh, Miss Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400 I am sorry that happened - yet good to know (thankful) that it was not your primary arm.  We can always find the silver lining (gratitude) even when we are injured - just as you have.

I wish you full restoration in the shortest time possible.

Oh My Goodness, Margaret. I am so sorry about your accident. Your positive attitude doesn't surprise me one bit. Sometimes, we find out how much we are loved when we need help.  That cast sounds amazing. Are you able to take it off to let your skin breathe once in a while?

I did break my right arm once. Sadly, it was diagnosed as soft tissue bruising and not treated properly. That is one of my "divine intervention" stories, which I think I've written about before.

I do hope you heal quickly!

Good morning Margaret,

Dang! What a bummer! So glad you had friends to help you and so sorry that happened. It's amazing to see your futuristic cast! Here's to healing quickly! How long do they estimate you will need to wear it?

Margaret so sorry to hear about the wrist break. And not surprised you're handling it with grace and thankfulness.  That is who you are my dear!  Whatever comes your way you figure out how to deal  with it in the best way possible and move forward.  I'm just glad you've got folks to help you out.  And....how interesting on that new 'cast' per se.

Thank you, Anna "Banana" Kruchten .

Would you like to hear about all the workarounds when you only have access to one hand?  🙃

I hope you are doing better!

Hey Margaret I actually went through having the use on on arm/hand many years ago and I remember all the 'fun' work-a-rounds.  Hope you mend soon so you can get back to enjoying life.   And I'm  on the way......just going to take some time and patience.  A lot of patience!

OH my gosh, Margaret! I'm so very sorry to hear this. I saw something on the group text and didn't know what you all were referring to! Oddly enough, I didn't get to go trick-or-treating with my grandson because the day before, I broke my 5th toe and 5th metatarsal. I did enjoy sitting on the patio with Ray, handing out candy while Liam and his parents and other grandparents went through our neighborhood!!

I hope how soon you are healed! I have to say that it must have been a nurse who made that snazzy new cast invention! LOL

It seems likely that a nurse was involved in that cast. We should conduct some research. It is far from the plaster casts and the rotating loud saw for removal.

Wishing you a quick and complete recovery

Hi Margaret,

Breaking bones is never a good thing, but as they say "it too shall pass".  Hoping you have a speedy recovery.  I will say breaks are better than sprains and it should actually be stronger when it heals

Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400 - I am sorry to learn about your arm, isn't it wonderful that you get to try out the "new futuristic cast!" I find it amazing that when heated, it shrinks and conforms perfectly to the human arm. FASTFORM is the perfect name! I would be willing to bet it was designed by AI before being approved for humans.

I hope you heal quickly and that if you're not going to be playing baseball or pickleball, at least you'll be able to write contracts and do ordinary things with your right arm again ASAP!

I am learning to do things using only my right arm. I could write a book filled with helpful tips for adapting. Sometimes, these challenges prove to be quite rewarding.
