I look forward to the Active Rain Gratitude Challenge every November, and this year, I’m thrilled to dive in, thanks to Debe Maxwell, CRS inspiring kickoff. Gratitude is such a gift, and I can't think of a better place to put it on paper!
This November, I’m feeling incredibly grateful for the quality time I get to spend with my two youngest grandkids, Hudson and Beckett. This past weekend, while their parents were off enjoying an evening at the Governor’s Mansion for an exclusive Texas BBQ (lucky them!), I had the pleasure of spending Friday night with these two remarkable kids.
The Governor’s Mansion has a fascinating history, especially since the mysterious fire during renovations in 2008. I’m now itching to book a tour myself—what a fun outing that would be with Hudson and Beckett!
Meanwhile, we made our own memorable night! Our evening began with dinner at The Grove in NW Hills, where the kids always find something they love on the menu, and I have several favorites of my own. While waiting for our food, we played a lively hand of UNO with double decks (a family favorite!), and smiles and laughs were non-stop.
Back home, we tuned into football and basketball games, where Hudson took on his usual role as “sports analyst.” He's such a fan, knowing every player in both college football and the NFL! Between quarters, he even showed me his workout routine—complete with push-ups and curls twice a day. That dedication sure keeps me on my toes!
Beckett, too, is full of excitement, especially about her role in the 5th-grade musical, Finding Nemo Jr. I love seeing her eyes light up as she talks about it—she’s so proud! And let’s not forget that she’s become fluent in Chinese thanks to the immersion program she’s been in for years. Hudson, not to be outdone, is also learning Chinese now and picking it up fast—gotta keep up with his sister!
It’s moments like these, filled with laughter, stories, and shared memories, that make my heart so full. I’m endlessly grateful to be part of their lives, hearing about their adventures and cheering them on every step of the way.
