Schweitzer Ski Resort 1st Snow - Sandpoint Idaho

North Idaho has been moving to inclement weather the past couple of weeks but has not dipped to low enough temperatures for substantial snow to hold, until last night.

Sandpoint Realty Schweitzer Ski Resort first Snow 2024

Returning from Hope, and Clark Fork, Idaho affords gorgeous views towards Sandpoint Idaho and the Southern portion of Selkirk Mountains.

As seen in the photo, Schweitzer Ski Resort is sporting the new white look for the upcoming ski season.  A beautiful view across the upper portion of Lake Pend Oreille at the Pack River Delta.

Schweitzer Ski Resort has not scheduled its opening day as of yet, but typically they have been late November.  Last year was early December.  No matter the day North Idahoans, and surrounding areas, are anxiously awaiting.

Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint-Idaho- Your photograph is gorgeous! The snow peaks in the backdrop are ready for skiers! Is this an area that gets more locals or tourists? It looks like a beautiful place to ski and enjoy the winter wonderland.

It used to be mostly locals.  Schweitzer is moving towards a 'Destination' type resort.  And with Washington, Spokane, only a couple hours away we get quite a bit of Washington.  It is funny, I came from Cal where not uncommon to see 30 minute plus ski lift lines.  Schweitzer was a ski up to the lift and get on for the most part.  Now past skiers complain of a 10 minute wait.  lol   All perspective.  m

Hello Endre,  just check north of you a bit, Lake Tahoe, and almost all of them do their very best to be sure they are open by Thanksgiving every year.   Millions in snow making equipment make that possible.  Boreal Ski Resort, on I80 prides itself on always being the first to open.  I believe they open this coming Saturday.  Enjoy your day Endre.  m

Kat I tell anyone spending even just a couple of days here that they should go to Schweitzer, if nothing else enjoy a coffee in the village along with the views.  I have worked, and skied, a few resorts and Schweitzer has better views from the parking lot than most resorts have while skiing the mountain.  Incredible.  m
