If you were a fan of the TV show "Tool Time" staring Tim Allen you remember the long standing joke about his many trips to the emergency room/hospital or doctor.
I live in a small city of 50,000 people with one hospital. Regretfully about two dozen health professionals recognize me at a glance plus most of the emergency room personnel know me by name (wish it was the "Cheers Bar" and not the emergency room).
Two things that sent me to the ER in the last 6 months were a dog bite and being slammed to the pavement by a gate that was forced open by a 70 mph wind gust. Also this year was my shoulder surgery. I'm sure there was more but those two come to mind.
As an avid Do-It-Yourselfer I live by the moto that the job is not done until you've bled on it.
If you are a new home owner and also a Do-It-Yourselfer make sure you have an emergency medical kit and that your wife knows the shortest path to the emergency room.
