Moving, Fast, Deliberate & Some Times Scary

I witnessed that scenario yesterday, Moving, Fast, Deliberate & Some Times Scary. Only thing was it was my friend Teddy who moved.

As you can see by the yellow straps, I took these photos shortly after Teddy moved about 100 yards from where he proudly lived for at least 50 years. His old home was in the center of Roosevelt Park and his new home is at the South entrance to the park as well as in front of the Roosevelt Park Zoo.

This is a good location as it can easily be seen from Minot's main East/West artery. Still, his old home was also great. While the move only took an hour or so the preparation took about 4 months.

When I think about my real estate career most buyers I worked with moved pretty smoothly. The exception that stands out was when arriving for the final walk through an hour prior to closing the Seller was sitting in his Lazy Boy watching TV without a single thing boxed and packed. That was like hitting a wall as Titus did in the comic strip above.

I was truly afraid that I was going to read that Teddy was warehoused like the statue of him in front of the Natural History museum in NYC.

The people of Minot ND are far from woke or even politically correct (which is one of the reasons it appeals to many) Lise Howe . I doubt anyone in a political position here would have thought of warehousing Teddy or the people of Minot would kick THEM to the curb.

Good morning, Bob... my first thought was the same as Lise Howe's. I've heard that story of sellers not having done anything to move more than once... not a good thing to deal with.

It was horrible Nina Hollander, Broker . The Seller was a hiway patrol man so I was looking over my shoulder for a while because I did give him a bit of a tongue lashing.

Hello Bob - while others shared different thoughts, your post brought to mind a saying I first heard many years ago.  Measure twice, cut once.  Proper preparation can help make the job easier.  And those words of wisdom are applicable to so many things in everyday life including real estate.

As a do it yourself person I know the wisdom of that saying Michael Jacobs . I don't like to waste resources and not knowing where to cut wastes a lot of resources.

Hey Bob, did not know that Teddy had a house in N. D. area till now.  Figure he was always in New York State.

He owned a ranch here and loved to hunt bison here. Most of the ND Badlands is covered by the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The park covers 70,446 acres (110.072 sq mi; 28,508 ha; 285.08 km2) of land in three sections: You can read more HERE.
