UPSIZE Fast Food and Real Estate...What's the Difference?

By
Real Estate Agent with HomeSmart Real Estate BR632450000

When we go to a fast food restaurant we are constantly being asked if we wish to UPSIZE the order with something else or a bigger option for just as LITTLE bit more. The same holds true for real estate and a home purchase. (photo: McDonalds by Thank you, Pixabay)

UPSIZE Fast Food and Real Estate Examples

Make it a DOUBLE...How about 1,000 more sf

You want frys with that?...Add a swimming pool

Make it an EXTRA LARGE...Show me 5,000+ sf homes

Meal Deal me!...Home, Pool, Casita

Well the same things happen in real estate. Are you needing a BIGGER HOME for your family or maybe one with a guest house for grandpa for a little bit more? Are you thinking your home is too small?

Well it is most likely time to UPSIZE!  Looking into the future, you just need more space...and a nice Arizona sunset or sunrise on the horizon is not too shabby either....just sayin'.

Hi Jeff,
Fun comparisons.
I'm at the point in life to down-size.
I guess that's equivalent to getting the kids meal.

You got it Carol. The Kid's meal is a PERFECT analogy. Are we talking a 2 Bedroom townhouse?

Jeff Masich-Scottsdale AZ Associate Broker,MBA,GRI  loved the analogy. In our case we bought a home that had potential to upsize, but during the ten years we lived here, we lost the desire to make it bigger so now we are just content with what we have, Endre

Got it Endre. So, sticking with the standard hamburger and fries. Can't go wrong with that. Jeff

Hello Jeff - clever comparisons.  And consequences are definitely a part of the menu options with your post.

Now Michael for a fancy upscale house, one might order a strawberry milkshake to go with the meal or a oreo milkshake....go crazy!

Good morning Jeff,

Love the creative comparison! As Michael Jacobs there are definitely consequences when upsizing! LOL! I agree Carol Williams a good selection for Second Chance Saturday series!

Hey Dorie now that we are cooking maybe a side order of onion rings for a third garage and man cave.

Thank you, Jeff Masich-Scottsdale AZ Associate Broker,MBA,GRI, for your creative perspective on upsizing in real estate! Your unique analogy between fast food and home buying made me think about the choices we have, and I appreciate the way you highlight the importance of finding a space that truly meets our needs.

Thank you Lew and don't forget to ask for "todays specials" when ordering your hamburger....hey, the seller may throw in a "home warranty" when buying your home. Jeff 😀

We like them ALL Lynnea, especially homes that are a short walk to McDonalds. Love the fries and you never know who might see there.

I love this post. I’m glad that it was featured in second chance Saturday. Happily upsizing your home does not come with extra calories that you then have to work off. Have a great week and sell some houses.

Great Lise. I have noticed that homes with 1/4+ acre lots require more calorie burning that the townhomes with a small patio backyard. More raking and bush trimming. A chocolate shake will help put the weight back on!

Good morning Jeff. Honest counsel leads a buyer to a best choice with the least amount of hassle. And given your market knowledge you can narrow the choices. Enjoy your day.

Yes Wayne we have the "Happy Meal" homes and the "XL Meal Deal" homes. Something for everyone. Jeff 😀

Great analogies, Jeff - I love it! It costs a bit more than it has in awhile to upsize to one of those 5K SF homes now! Hopefully interest rates will level back off at 5.75 or 6%.

Jeff Masich-Scottsdale AZ Associate Broker,MBA,GRI

Yes Debe. All of the Fast Food places offer the "magical" $5.00 meal specials now to increase sales....hey the 5% Mortgage rate will probably be the "magic" percent for real estate as well.
