Charles Ross - eXp Realty LLC thanks, Charles. With just the two of us here in Charlotte and as it's hard for my husband to travel long distances for just a couple days, we've always dined out on Thanksgiving.

Katina Hargrove 352-551-0308 hi Katina... my husband is Dutch... and Thanksgiving was certainly not part of his life throughout much of his life until he and I were married (he was 50 at that time). So he's perfectly fine with dining out and prefers that I don't have to spend a day cooking.

I don't like fuss, so I always prefer a feast without fuss, haha.  I am not sure what we will be doing for Thanksgiving but it is coming up, so I better ask my Mom what is going on, haha.

Brian England good morning, Brian... you are fortunate that you have family nearby and parents who will host you.

That is so funny Brian England .  My Mom lives one street over and she invited everyone for Thanksgiving.  That sounds like it should be easy for me right?  Nope, it means I am cooking!  It will be fun though.  I love Thanksgiving and cooking. My Brothers will all be there, and who knows, they may help out.  Have a great one!

Well, that does indeed sound wonderful Brenda J. Andrew and the only part I wouldn't enjoy about that is cooking, so it is good that you love to cook, haha.

Hello Nina - there appears to be a good number of dining out options available in Charlotte Thanksgiving Day.  🦃

Nov 12, 2024 05:31 AM
Nina Hollander, Broker

Michael Jacobs good morning, Michael... we do have a lot of options. Dining out has become popular over the past several years. And we also have a lot of options to order in a fully prepared meal that needs heating up.

Good morning Nina. At my home, my wife makes the Thanksgiving dinner. While we also have many dine out options, I would need immediate medical care if I suggested it. It is her choice. Happy wife, happy life. After almost 47 years, working so far. Enjoy your day.

Nov 12, 2024 05:41 AM

Wayne Martin my "job" was always Christmas Eve dinner... my mother's "job" was Thanksgiving dinner... my aunt's "job" was Christmas Day dinner. So I never got into the habit of doing Thanksgiving Day dinner except when we lived overseas and I would invite expat Americans to our home.

Nina, Seems Charlotte offers a wide variety of restaurants open on Thanksgiving Day so many options. For us, though, it’s all about celebrating at our home with the family.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 hi Sheila... for my husband, who is Dutch, Thanksgiving was never a "thing." We have no family here in Charlotte and he's not in a position to travel far for just a few days. As I said to Wayne Martin, my "job" was always Christmas Eve dinner... my mother's "job" was Thanksgiving dinner... my aunt's "job" was Christmas Day dinner. So I never got into the habit of doing Thanksgiving Day dinner except when we lived overseas and I would invite expat Americans to our home. With no family in town, we go to the Ballantyne Hotel on Thanksgiving, who serve a 5-Star buffet lunch. And interestingly, each year I see more and more families at this lunch... three generations and more.

I have dined out twice on Thanksgiving Day. It is a nice alternative to all the work, but I do think it is best for everyone to gather back at someone's home to have dessert or coffee. Being together for the day is so important.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty hi Jeff... I don't disagree with your approach. At this stage it's just my husband and me for Thanksgiving.

Hi Nina- when Larry and I moved to Leesburg, VA, I can remember one Thanksgiving when we did the whole dinner just for the two of us. I was fun but I'd rather spend it with family and friends.

Kathy Streib good morning, Kathy. I cook most days for the two of us. At Thanksgiving it's just the two of us. Going out to eat at a 5-star restaurant is a treat and makes the holiday special.

Well Nina Hollander, Broker  loved the list, half of them I have been to in Boston and/ or Los Angeles..... now with that said, I am a huge fan of making Thanksgiving the main event at home doing all the cooking and the only difficulty will be to put all the stuff away in the fridge and then the cleanup:))Endre

Endre Barath, Jr. good morning, Endre... I get it. As I cook most days for just the two of us, going out to eat at one of Charlotte's top hotel restaurants is a treat for us in celebrating a holiday. It's very festive in the ballroom, the food is outstanding, and we can have a quiet meal,  people watch, etc. We do Easter there, as well. I know you don't do a ton of decorating for Christmas... and I go all out... so for me having a Thanksgiving with no pressure to "perform" makes it easy for me to spend the next several days decorating my house.

Hi Nina Hollander, Broker . This is a great list of places to go, and great for anyone looking for this option.  I love having family over and cooking the meal.  My Mom fixed it for years, but when we moved to Corpus Christi, I got the pleasure of cooking.  My Mom invited everyone this year to her house.  Her and my Dad don't get to travel as much these days so everyone will come to their house.  One of my brother's will carve the turkey.  One brother's family loves carrots so they will probably bring that.  The other one will bring whatever is asked.  It is one of the few times during the year I get to see all of my siblings.  We probably won't see any of our kids this year with everyone working and being so far away.  My daughter is looking forward to cooking and spending it with her Military family and friends.  I hope you have a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving - you are blessed.

Brenda J. Andrew good morning, Brenda. It sounds like you have a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration planned with family. We have no one close by here in Charlotte. We used to celebrate Thanksgiving with good friends/neighbors who loved to prepare a huge meal, but they have both passed away in recent years. We are the oldest in our family... there is no generation ahead of us and my husband is not up to travelling long distances for just a couple of days. We'll get to do that travel at Christmas time when we go to Colorado to spend Christmas with our daughter, grands, and great-grands.

Hi Nina:

There are certainly lots of options for Thanksgiving dining out in Charlotte for those who prefer it. I've never gone out for Thanksgiving dinner and as long as our daughters and their families want to visit I suspect we will continue the tradition at home. The Ballantyne Hotel sounds wonderful!

Jeff

Nina Hollander, Broker

Jeff Dowler, CRS hi Jeff... we don't have family visiting at Thanksgiving... too many people having to travel too far from Colorado and London for just a couple of days on our younger daughter's side. Our older daughter suffered a significant stroke last February so she is also not travelling.
