Gratitude for Active Rain: A November Challenge 3/4
This November, I’m taking on the Active Rain gratitude challenge, which invites us to share four gratitude posts throughout the month.Â
I’m incredibly grateful for the training I’ve pursued over the last 30 years. Without the benefit of finishing college—life suddenly required me to earn a living early—I’ve instead invested in myself by hiring coaches and taking classes from my 20s to now, in my 50s.
One of the most impactful lessons I learned was in 1999 during Buffini & Company coaching: The Five Circles of Life. This framework breaks life into five essential categories:
- Spiritual: Your faith, religion, beliefs, meditation practices, acts of giving back, etc.
- Family: Your marriage, children, relationships, kinships, and friendships.
- Business: Everything related to earning a living—your work, job, career, and roles.
- Financial: Your income, savings, budgeting, investing, and tithing.
- Personal: Supporting your physical and mental health, hobbies, and personal interests.
These five circles serve as the foundation for setting goals and maintaining a daily connection to them, keeping your awareness aligned on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis. Breaking these goals into actionable steps and incorporating them into your daily schedule ensures you stay aligned with your priorities, passions, and potential. It’s a powerful system that keeps you focused and prevents you from drifting away from what truly matters.
The beauty of this exercise and daily habit lies in its flexibility—it’s a framework entirely tailored to your life, your goals, and your journey. You have the privilege of designing it, but also the responsibility of working it. It's not about balance, there's no such thing in The Circles; it's about harmony! So, my friends, design a life worth living! It's A Good Life!
