This Veterans Day Holiday Weekend we honor those who served...

Appreciating all the Veterans not just on Veterans Day, but everyday should be the goal of every American. The best way to do this, is by not to confusing it with Memorial Day.

Since, Veterans Day is dedicated to all American veteran not just to those who served in wars. I find it annoying when people confuse the two dates.

Just to clarify Veterans Day will happen on Monday, November 11th. How fascinating that in 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month an armistice was declared between the Allies and Germany basically ending World War I.

In 1938 November 11th became a federal holiday. After World War II and the Korean War Armistice Day became better known as Veterans Day.

Often, I get asked what is the best way to thank a Veteran? Well, my take is to:

  1.       Fly the American flag outside your home.
  2.       Participate in a Veterans Day parade.
  3.       Attend an official Veterans Day ceremony.  
  4.       Volunteer at an event focused on helping veterans in need. 
  5.       Spend quality time with a veteran, listen to their stories, and share in their experiences. 
  6.       Donate to veterans' non-profit organization.  
  7.       Buy products and services from veteran-owned businesses.

 

Many thanks should be given not just to the Veterans, but their families who supported and support them. Now with that said wishing you a great Veterans Day!

We will have the parade tomorrow and other related activities!

Thank you for your service Endre Barath, Jr. Veterans should be honored every day of the year in my opinion.  My husband will tell you I have a special place in my heart for Veterans and our Military.  We have 3 Veterans in our family, a son, son in law and a daughter.  I am thankful for them and all who have served and are serving.  Corpus Christi has a military base so I had the pleasure of working with several families.  Anyway I hope you were able to enjoy some of the festivities on Veterans Day.  Have a great rest of your week.

Endre I'm a little late to the party but I wanted to stop by and say Thanks to you for your service to our county!  We would not be the country we are without all our brave men and women who serve our county day in and day out.
