THANK YOU to our Veterans of the Armed Forces here in the USA.
Veterans Day began at the end of fighting in World War I, when an armistice (which is a temporary stop to fighting) went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. (11/11 at 11am.)
In 1938, An Act made November 11th each year a legal holiday. At the time, it was designated to be a day dedicated to world peace, and was given the name of “Armistice Day.”
Then, in 1954, World War II required the greatest mobilization of Armed Forces in U.S. History, the Act of 1938 was amended to change the word “Armistice” to “Veterans,” officially making November 11th a day to honor American Veterans of all wars.
Below, please find a short video from the History Channel sharing the history behind Veterans Day.
I find it to be a good reminder that American Freedom is not Free.
Thank you, Veterans!
