Sweet Dreams, Happy Dreams.

When I close my eyes I dream more often then not and when I do they are usually pretty mundane and not worth remembering. Every once in a while I have a "Happy" dream. We often wish each other "Sweet Dreams", isn't it nice when it happens?

As Realtors we often tell people we want to help them find their Dream Home... but dreams change. My dream home at the age of 18 was a sweet little one bedroom home that I could afford (barely). It was perfect of a single man of the age of 18.

My next dream home was a fixer-upper in the small community of Underwood ND (pop 500).

My current home was only 600 sq' when I purchased it but it was my dream home because I had a wife and two kids to put in it. BTW we have doubled the floor size and it is still a dream home to us even though the occupancy has dropped down to three now.

Not everybody's dream is BIG. Our family always liked to be close yet to each have their own space to withdraw into. When I was active Carol and I enjoyed looking at magnificent homes but we never desired to own one. Carol always said "I'd hate to clean this monster" and we both wondered out loud "Don't they want to see each other? I later found out in my career as a Realtor that is exactly why some people want a large home.

To each their own and to each their own dreams.

So true - we all have our own dreams, including those about what we consider the perfect dream house. And what makes a house a dream changes over the years!

Good morning Bob,

Everyone has their own personal dreams and goals. When it comes to owning a home it's the same thing! Big or small ...whatever floats your boat..it's yours!

You are spot on Dorie Dillard Austin TX . During our oil boom most contractors built one design over and over. I liked representing contractors who thought no two homes should be alike.

God morning Bob. The wife and I have owned several homes over the years. Each was near perfect for the time. We did have a couple of big homes that were too big. Trouble is, we did not realize it until we owned them. We are now retired and live in a townhome that once again is perfect for us. The bonus is it is not too big but big enough and we use all of it. "Perfect" is subject to "adjustment". Your wife is right about "too big to clean". Enjoy your home!

I am glad you are in your perfect home now Wayne Martin . I know there were aspects of "living in the sky" that you liked but your hart was always on the ground.

Good morning, Bob... no doubt about it... beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm a "big" house kind of girl... I like my space and so does my husband. We do talk to each other despite the space. I've never worried about the cleaning aspect of a big house... I've had someone cleaning my homes since I was 27 and could afford it.

There are times I think about going BIG Nina Hollander, Broker but it's usually when I'm driving through a historic neighborhood. That would be great if I were a younger man but all those steps and the maintenance would be to much for me today.

Bob "RealMan" Timm hi Bob... there's big and then there's big. My house is 1.5 stories with five bedrooms and four bathrooms. Master is on the main. One of the two secondary bedrooms on the main floor is my office. I have two additional bedrooms and two bathrooms on the second level + a bonus room, which my husband uses as his TV room/office. Essentially, I live on one floor. We have stair lift for my husband for the second floor.

That sounds like a beautiful dream home Nina Hollander, Broker . It certainly sounds like you would have room for me to come visit if I need a break from our long harsh winter.

It's annoying if people are being loud when someone else is trying to sleep, haha.

Hello Bob, interesting about the size of homes people end up with and I always tell people buy now, it is a great investment

Buy when you have the opportunity is what I say Will Hamm . Conditions may not be ideal but then again they rarely are.

Well Bob I loved your post and I find that the larger the home the more cleaning surface needs to be handled and cleaned:).... Those who dream of big home and buy them, seldom enjoy all the extra space, just my two cents, Endre
