I am planning a trip to Fargo soon and I was surprised at how little community information is available on the City website or Chamber of Commerce website.
I was raised in Fargo's sister city, Moorhead MN however that was forty years ago and things have changed a lot over the years. Most disappointing is that the bulk of friends that I was close to have passed on or like myself, moved on.
I'm not one to spend much time in the past and that is why I have not been back to Fargo/Moorhead more than 6 times in 40 years.
So why now? I am meeting my daughter and son-in-law halfway as she is returning a car I loaned her six years ago. We all thought it would be a good time to visit as we will not be able too over Thanksgiving.
Through careful searching I did find some arts offerings I knew Timmothy and Tina would enjoy (Both are professional artists). The biggest highlight of the trip will be visiting The Fargo Fine Arts Club House.
My mother managed and lived in the club house for a decade and she was the Club Manager for many years as well. The clubhouse is not a gallery or museum but it is a very interesting place that I know Tina and Timmothy will enjoy. They never met my mom (their grandmother) as she was murdered before they were born. Tina has always been interested in her roots so this may help her to get to know the Grandmother she never met.
The Fargo Fine Arts Clubhouse is NOT a public place, it's a private club. I called to set up an appointment and they generously welcomed us to come and spend as much time as we liked to view what was a large part of our family history.
A few more words about the Fargo website. Again I was disappointed at how little is offered on it, especially in line with FAMILY entertainment. Our group will all be adults BUT just because we are adults doesn't mean we are hyped up for a weekend of bar hoping and adult comedy clubs. It took research on my own to find art galleries and other family friendly activities.
What does your City's website, Chambers website say about your City? I am proud to say that "Visit Minot" has a lot of family friendly activities available? Yes, we have bars BUT and the video at the top of the page shows some adult activity but immediately under the video is this:
