GIS Day and Geography Awareness Week
Geographic Information System (GIS) Day is an annual global event, celebrated this year on November 20. With more than 700 layers of information in its database, the City’s GIS serves as an important tool for analysis, strategic decision-making, and everyday functions of government. An official proclamation designating November 20 as GIS Day and November 18 to 22 as “Geography Awareness Week” was presented at the October 4 Mayor and City Council meeting. View the presentation here.
Maps and geography can be a lot of fun! Celebrate GIS and Maps with the Community Museum on Saturday, November 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Learn about the work done at the Latitude Observatory.

I like the early morning light for photographing flowers. Or, photograph them on a cloudy day or in the shade to eliminate heavy shadows.
