Thankful Thoughts…For the Strangers
We Meet
Have you ever met a stranger and after a conversation (no matter how brief) you walked away with a pep in your step and a smile on your face??
It happens to me all of the time and for that I am grateful. Usually the chance meetings reinforce my belief that in every person there is some good.
God bless you…
When I was in Target doing last minute Halloween candy shopping, I noticed a young girl around 4 or 5, along a side aisle admiring the toys. I looked for a parent, then saw her father.
I quietly pointed to her to let him know where she was. Passing the M&M’s and Reese’s, I saw her looking around, as if to find her father.
I said Here he is and she smiled. He was only a few feet away.
Still deciding on what bag to buy, the father came up to me and said God bless you and handed me a prayer card. I learned that he has a street ministry in Garland TX. His wife works 3 days a week in Houston as a Nurse Practitioner.
He prays every night for our country but had faith things would turn around. My spirits were lifted!!!

Faith in our young people…
Sadly we only hear negative stories about people, especially our youth. I met a young man while at my local grocer paying for our car registration. He looked all of 16 years old.
We chatted and I learned that he is 25 and joined the military out of high school. He has 8 siblings and his parents paid for all of their education so he wanted to show he could do it on his own. He got a Bachelor’s degree while in the military, and is now out getting a Master’s degree.
He works part time at the store but his full time job is as a corrections officer at a juvenile detention facility.
Oh yes…he just bought a home!!!
Yes…Faith in our young people!!!
If we're fortunate, we build friendships over the years that can last a lifetime.
The cherry on the ice cream sundae of our lives can be the strangers we meet who make us smile…add much needed sunshine to our day…and help restore our faith.
There are no strangers here; only friends
you haven't met yet.
William Butler Yeats
We all begin as strangers and we meet people for two reasons. They are either a blessing or a lesson.
