It's Raining in Connecticut, Yeah!!!

It's Raining in Connecticut, Yeah!!!

There is a line about water, water everywhere but not a drop to spare, which for residents in the Northeast, Connecticut specifically was more real than desired over the past 2 months.

Early in September, our state was hit with almost 9 inches of rain in a 24-hour span. It caused major devastation that required FEMA funds to try and repair but that could not replace what was lost, including lives.

Since then, we have been under flag warnings to be careful of starting fires as everything was so dry that it would be difficult to contain and stop.

There was a fire in October in the Wallingford area that took days and numerous firefighters to contain and caused so much damage.

We have gotten no rain since, and our reservoirs are in low states with as much as 4 feet lost in some.

We are under a light rain which is what we need as it allows for the ground to absorb it, and before it ends sometime Friday we can have up to 2 inches in some areas.

So badly needed and if one wants to truly enjoy it, grab the umbrella and feel the splash and sound and enjoy.

Good Morning Ed Silva, 203-206-0754

Here in Essex County MA we've had all kinds of wild fires in the State forests. It's been over 3 weeks and the fires are not completely out. Thus, we are happy for the rain we are receiving today, too.

Ed we were in much need of the rain we are getting today, and tomorrow.  I am OK with the rain as long as the temperatures don't drop and it turns into the fluffy white stuff.

Ed, sure seems like Mother Nature is all in, and invisible!   Too much or too little.   We needed moisture, then got 2 feet+ snow and caused lots of chaos.

Hi Ed:

That's good news for your area. We are due for rain this weekend from the bomb cyclone storm hitting the NW and northern CA now. Not sure how much rain is due but it has been months since we had any rain and it's badly needed.

Jeff

Jeff Dowler, CRS   It could be the effects of global warming, which has been being a threat for far too many years.

As you are probably aware, the Northwest corner of the U. S. and Northern California have had a huge downpouring of rain in the last few days. In the city of Santa Rosa, which is a few miles north San Francisco, they got a foot of rain in three days!

At least one good thing came about. Our fire season is officially over.

A quenching rain is nice, Ed, but a steady downpour for days can be devastating, also drought-like conditions, as you wrote in your post. Moderation is a very desirable result!

Hello Ed, I was so happy to see the rain, and thankfully it is raining right now.  There was a huge wildfire on the New York New Jersey border, unfortunately, an 18-year-old firefighter lost his life.
