WHERE TO CUT YOUR OWN CHRISTMAS TREE IN THE CHARLOTTE AREA

MAKING HOLIDAY MEMORIES & TRADITIONS

"Freshly cut Christmas trees smelling of stars and snow and pine resin -- inhale deeply and fill your soul with wintry night."

-- John Geddes

There’s something magical about picking and cutting down your own perfect Christmas tree. The crisp air, the scent of fresh pine, and the thrill of finding “the one” combine to create a holiday tradition that’s equal parts adventure and nostalgia.  There’s a special pride in hauling home a tree you chose and cut yourself, knowing it will be the centerpiece of your holiday celebrations.

Cutting your own tree can transform a simple chore into a cherished memory, filled with laughter, teamwork, and just the right amount of challenge. It’s an experience that brings families and friends together, as everyone debates the merits of this tree or that, measuring height, fullness, and that elusive “Christmas tree vibe.” For kids, it can be an unforgettable adventure, like a treasure hunt in a forest of green.

Some tree farms also offer hot cocoa, hayrides, and festive decorations to make the day even more enjoyable. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or trying it for the first time, cutting your own Christmas tree is more than just holiday preparation—it’s an experience that lights up the season.

Yes indeed, cutting down your own tree can definitely add to the memories of Christmas. We selected our Christmas tree a month ago and will go up our hill in December to cut it down. I am looking forward to that!

Kat Palmiotti good morning, Kat... you are so fortunate that this is an easy process for you where you live. Since, most years I put up at least three trees, I've gone the artificial route.

Cutting down my own tree was always the best part of Christmas in Illinois. There were many tree farms in Northern, IL up through Michigan. Since moving to TX, I only had one Christmas tree in 1998. I went grocery shopping a few days ago and passed a lot of fresh cut trees. I was shocked to see prices ranged from $149,999 to $499,999.00.

No, I did not buy a tree, and I won't buy an artificial one either. I got rid of all my ornaments and decorations long ago.

Patricia Feager, ABR,CRS,GRI,MRP I've used artificial trees for decades now. I always put up at least three trees and I like to have them up from December 1st through Russian Christmas. I love my Christmas tree decorations, which I've been collecting for much of my life... there's my cat tree, my Delft tree, my Russian tree, my tree with just gold and silver ornaments. This year, I'm only doing one tree... still not moving 100% after my hip surgery and we'll also be away in Colorado Christmas week.

Hi Nina- that is a holiday memory I've never had. Growing up, my grandmother went to the local farmers market and bought a bundle of trees for our family. After that, we always went to a Christmas tree lot.

Kathy Streib hi Kathy... no cutting trees for me as a kid... I did it in my late 20's and early 30's. Since 1992, I've always had artificial trees.

Hello Nina - I have many Christmas memories - tree-related as well as many beyond it.  However, not one includes ever cutting down a tree.  While I know we both a are careful about using "never" as well as "always" --- it's highly unlikely that the tradition has a chance of starting now or in the future for me.  🎄

Endre Barath, Jr. good morning, Endre... I've only had artificial trees myself for the past 25 + years. But mine remain vertical. I've been very fortunate that I've never had a cat or dog bother any of my trees.
