Thanksgiving Week…My Cup Runneth Over

Thanksgiving Week…My Cup Runneth Over

While we are grateful throughout the year, Thanksgiving brings out the urge to give serious thought to our lives and what we are thankful for.

When I get the PPM cloud over me (Poor Pitiful Me), the first thing I do is actively think about everything in my life…all of the wonderful people, my friends, my birds…everything!

Reading Brian England’s Sunday posts are a weekly reminder that no matter what I think I don’t have, it pales in comparison to the real life woes of others.

While my life has not been perfect and yes, I do have some regrets, my cup runneth over.

Hints to shake the PPM’s…

~Think about what you have in your life

~Think about a past event or time that brought joy to your life

~GET OUT!  Yes, get out…take a walk…meet a friend for coffee.

~Do something for someone. Take your thoughts off of you, and place them towards someone who needs your help.  There are very few things more uplifting than helping someone in need.

What I need, I have…what I do not have, I do not need.

What I am given, I will be grateful for.

You know how blessed you are when you can’t decide which “blessing” to write about.

When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.
Willie Nelson

Gratitude lifts our eyes off the things we lack so we might see the blessings we possess.
Max Lucado

An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.

Kathy Streib - I posted around 2:00 a.m. and also included "My cup runneth over." It is such a profound way to give thanks. Since I've known you on AR you have always projected yourself with a positive attitude giving support to members.

May you be richly blessed.

Hi Kathy,
I love your post. We don't need everything we want to be joyful and blessed. As your post indicated, the best way to eliminate that PPM cloud is to focus your attention on helping someone less fortunate. That is a sure way to achieve a perspective adjustment.

Have a wonderful week of Thanksgiving.

Thank you Carol Williams When we see others with what we think we want, we soon realize that we have so much more than that.

Great ideas for eliminating that PPM cloud! And I also agree with "You know how blessed you are when you can't decide which "blessing" to write about" - that is so true!

Hello Kathy - I remember a time (way back when) if a post mentioned Brian England, it was sure to receive a reblog from the 🧠plus 💩-ster.  Butt (err but) those days seem to be gone.

I understand he has a new series of posts that will likely capture attention.  His daily AR appearance on the blog roll is something I look forward to so I can be assured that the scheduler is operating properly - and it sometimes occurs twice a day.  A regular dose of HaHa is good, right? 🤣

Those that can focus on what they have to be grateful for and not be affected or absorbed by the negative frequencies around them are truly blessed.  I WISH I could be more like that, but unfortunately I'm a very sensitive person and sometimes things get to me too much.

Ralph Gorgoglione there's nothing wrong with being sensitive. But you can't take on the world to the point that you forget to enjoy what you have.

Nice post, Kathy. I'm not one who suffers from PPM. When our grands were young and would try to PPM me, I'd tell them life was short and then we died. And then I'd remind them about the fact that more people have less than they did than people who had more. That shut them up quickly and they did not PPM me. (Of course, I have no idea if they tried it on others, but not with me.)

Kathy Streib hi Kathy... kids have a "built-in radar." They know whom they can take advantage of and whom not.

Nina Hollander, Broker my great-nephews called me the "new sheriff" in town when we moved back to Houston. I can be a pushover sometimes but not when they think they're taking advantage of me.

Hi Kathy:

It was such a pleasure to read your inspiring post, and to reflect on your message, and the quotes you shared. Your advice on "hints to shake the PPMs" was right on target, especially "do something for someone!" A little bit of kindness can go so far.

Have a wonderful week preparing for the big day and all of your company.
