Every Day Is Thanksgiving
When I look back to 2010 when I joined ActiveRain, and think of all the amazing people I have met along the way to Thanksgiving 2024, I must also think of how much these same people have taught to me.
Let me dedicate this post to all the members who have enhanced my life for the past 14 years. To start, there are those who have honored me by following me. I feel each and every "follow" is a gift. In addition to those amazing Bloggers, over the years, there are those who I have chosen to follow. THANK YOU ALL !!!
At first, I thought I would mention individual names yet the limited number of links on AR posts precluded that idea. So - in general - proud to have
- Learned technical skills for blogging
- Learned about how the business is practiced in different parts of the US
- Met absolutely amazing professionals who generously shared their skills
- Enhanced my business using the Blogging medium.
I will single out one member here. From 2010 to 2011, I replied often on posts but still hadn't written my first one. Gary Coles (Coaching) followed me before I had ever written a post! Imagine what a pleasure it was to know about that!
About Gary:
After he completed building a home for his mother out West, he decided to drive to move to Mexico. His real estate work would be to offer second homes south of the Border - homes in Mexico and in Central America. While living in Mexico, he offered services by volunteering at local schools. As happens in life, he became attached to one family at the school. And that attachment has endured.
We, as AR members, can help Gary support his dreams for this family. How you ask? By donating to the "GoFundMe" he established for this family.
In Gary's own words:
"I met this family when I first came to Mexico. I started by buying some school supplies, diapers for the youngest, and some food. The mom was making certain they worked hard in school and entered them in a school program sponsored by a charity. When they became older, I started paying for school supplies and finally for private schools. It was too difficult for the mom with schools in different locations and times. I am currently paying for private school for three of them and the oldest is working to save funds for college - hopefully next year. I am typically paying over $300 per month and this month was almost double because of starting a new school year.
Any help from ActiveRain members (and anyone else of course!) will be greatly appreciated to assist the family I aquired aong the way."
Following does make a difference online. It is a positive reinforcement to the writer. How did I go from only commenting on others posts to writing a post? Have to give credit for that to the first ActiveRain member I met in person. When in Chicago to visit family, I drove to a town close by. There I met a member in person - her comments got me off the fence ond onto posting.
All the best - Lynn
