CHARLOTTE THANKSGIVING EVE PARADE 2024

MARCH INTO THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT!

Parade

"The best way to celebrate life is to enjoy the parade."

... Maya Angelou

Charlotte's Thanksgiving Eve Parade turns 78 years old this year. As it does each year, the Thanksgiving Parade will light up the Charlotte skies on Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 27th. Why not come out and help celebrate a Charlotte tradition since 1947!

The Thanksgiving Eve Parade, sponsored by Novant Health, will begin at 5:45 PM on Tryon Street beginning at 9th Street and ending at Good Samaritan Way. The parade will air live at 6:00 PM on WCCBcharlotteThe event is free of charge.

"Parades: where joy and community unite!"

... Unknown

Charlotte’s Thanksgiving Parade is billed as one of the oldest in the nation and the fourth-largest in the country. In 2012 The US News & World Report included the parade on its list of "America’s Best Thanksgiving Day Parades." And visittheusa.com listed Charlotte's Thanksgiving Parade as one of the top seven in the country, as well. You could think of it as the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade... Charlotte style! For a complete list of marching bands and performers at the Charlotte Thanksgiving Parade, click here.

"The magic of parades is felt with the heart, not just seen with the eyes."

If you've never been to Charlotte's Thanksgiving Eve Parade, why not come out on Wednesday evening and start your own Thanksgiving tradition!

"The beauty of parades lies in the sea of smiling faces."

Good morning Nina. While I like parades when I can watch them on TV in the comfort of my home my son takes my grandson to as many as he can, especially the ones held in downtown Chicago. Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin hi Wayne, when I lived in NY City and worked in  midtown, I used to love to go out and watch the parades down Fifth Avenue even if only for a half hour or so.

Dorie Dillard Austin TX hi Dorie... having grown up with the Macy's Day Parade, I was totally gob-smacked to find out when we moved to Charlotte, how long our parade has been going on and that it's considered one of the best in the nation.

I think having an event the night before is a great idea, and then people can spend the actual holiday doing whatever it is they like to do!

Kat Palmiotti I agree, Kat... and also at night all the lights make it really special.

Ralph Gorgoglione I agree, Ralph. Hard to resist a parade... and fortunately here in Charlotte we don't need all that many layers.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty - I'm not sure if you knew it, but the Flower Mound High School Marching Band was selected to be one of 11 in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty hi Jeff... not totally sanguine that the woke will be gone this year... maybe next. Did you hear that Walmart has just announced they are discontinuing their DEI efforts. Lots of companies will follow their example, I'm sure.

Nina, The most memorable Thanksgiving parades were when the NYC company Larry worked for had a spacious indoor area with large windows, allowing us to watch comfortably regardless of the weather while enjoying a delicious breakfast too!

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 Who could argue with that, Sheila? I remember the days when I would be invited to watch the Rock Center tree lighting from inside... those were the days!

Hi Nina,
Wow... the Charlotte Thanksgiving Eve parade is older than either one of us! It sounds like a festive way to kick off the holiday season.

I can't remember the last time I have been to a parade, but it was likely when I was still in high school, haha.  This seems like it will be a fun time for all who attend!

Brian England hi Brian... having lived in NY City for much of my adult life, I totally enjoyed seeing the various parades that marched down Fifth Avenue on Columbus Day, St Patrick's Day, etc.
