Hello Nina - while I may not have known all of these Thanksgiving facts, I seem to be stuffed with somewhat familiar as well as new-to-me ingredients for holiday related chatter around the dining room table.  Enjoy your dining out experience tomorrow.

Nina,

I wasn't aware of all the fun Thanksgiving facts. I enjoyed reading the lists.  I had no idea that there are 4 towns by the name Turkey. One of those is in Texas- where I am from.  Thanks for sharing. Have a fun, delicious, and enjoyable Thanksgiving.  Joe Mojica, Florida realtor

Joe Mojica good morning, Joe... I admit that I'm a bit of trivia "junkie." So much fun to browse through facts like this! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Hi Nina,
I love these kinds of posts with statistics. I was quite surprised at the percentage of people serving mashed potatoes. I thought that was some kind of unwritten law, and EVERYONE served them with the meal. I wonder if all those towns named Turkey grow turkeys as an industry. These charts raise so many questions.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Nina.

Carol Williams good morning, Carol... the times I've cooked Thanksgiving dinner, I will admit to not serving mashed potatoes. I always serve roast potatoes. Happy turkey day to you, my friend!

Hi Nina, great post! I loved reading all the facts especially the number of people shopping for food this week! That's why I shopped last week to avoid the crowds!

Tracy Lee Parker good morning, Tracy! So smart to get the shopping done early. Our stores were already crazy busy last weekend. Can't imagine what they will be like today. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Good morning Nina. We are prepared. The wife will have mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, gravy, vegetables turkey and stuffing. It will be a real spread. My son hates none of it and will make a steak on the grill. His loss. Oh yeah, one other thing, unlike Endre Barath, who is a master chef and making his own cranberry sauce, I will be consuming some Ocean Spray Cranberry sauce out of the can.  Enjoy your feast.

Wayne Martin hi Wayne... sounds like a classic Thanksgiving Day meal to me... and nothing wrong with classics and tradition. When it comes to cranberry sauce, I'm fine with Endre's home-made and I've fine with Ocean Spray.

I love the stats! I must say, if I hear anyone near me say Friendsgiving this year, I am going feed them to the pelicans.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty hi Jeff... are pelicans people eaters? Had no idea! :))) We had a Friendsgiving last week at my office. I don't object to the term in that kind of situation.

Nina, I'm one of those 60% who host Thanksgiving each year. I've got Larry in the kitchen right now starting the feast!

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 hi Sheila... I've only ever done Thanksgiving at my home when we lived overseas and I'd invite American expats to come celebrate. As long as my mother was alive, we had Thanksgiving at her home or her best friend's home. Here in Charlotte, for many years we would have Thanksgiving at the home of close friends and even after they moved back to Connecticut I'd go up there for Thanksgiving. Sadly, they've both passed away in the past two years. With no family in town, we go to the Ballantyne Hotel which does a stupendous Thanksgiving buffet lunch in their ballroom. Happy Thanksgiving!

Joan Cox hi Joan... since we are going out, it's easier to control just how much is consumed, plus no leftovers to nibble on.

Wow Nina only 68% have turkey, well my mom only took off only three days a year but she would cook up a storm on Thanksgiving from Turkey, Ham, chicken and that was just the meat part.  I know I do not over do it for Thanksgiving meal for myself but make lots for others.
