Is it Black Friday for Shopping, or Just Another Day?

So many wait for this day to begin this shopping experience, and some just think of it as another day.

Have to be honest, I would get up to go catch a plane at 4 am, but NEVER to go shopping!   I have my priorities in the right place!  LOL

 

Are there deals out there, or just worded differently?   I know I wanted new tires, and my tire rep said -- wait until it is closer to Black Friday and there will be deals.  The tires were $204.00 then.   I went in this week, they were $244.00 with an $80 refund.   Well, that means the tires are more expensive!

 

Glad I won't be fighting for a parking space, or the last of something on the shelf.   Getting tires put on later in the day, and that is about it!

Hi Joan,
I don't particularly enjoy shopping and I don't like crowds, so Black Friday doesn't appeal to me at all.

Hello Joan - because of years in the retail industry, I was quite familiar with the significance of Black Friday.  Although it has been a long time since leaving, news surrounding it still gets my attention. 

Things of all sorts experience "change".  And it certainly extends to traveling, especially by air.  I can remember rushing towards the gate to catch a flight (pre-911) as well as taking late-night flights to the East Coast from Southern California so I could arrive early to take on the new day.  Ah, change. . ."it lives among us".

I did not go shopping on Black Friday though I did stop at a grocery store to pick up something for a friend who was under the weather. Years ago my daughter and I had a tradition of going out on Black Friday for breakfast, then some shopping and ending the day with lunch.

The internet- and to single out one company, Amazon, changed our shopping behavior forever. Black Friday never appealed to me as I just didn't have the patience required for such an event. As you said- I would get up at 4am for a flight, and I even waited on line overnight for free Shakespeare in the Park tickets in Central Park a couple of times (one performance was being done by Al Pacino- it was worth it for his performance) - but I have no patience for shopping events.
