Happy Day-Before Thanksgiving! 🦃 As we gather this week to celebrate and give thanks, I’m reminded of the power of gratitude and how it can inspire us to lift up those less fortunate. My journey with “family adoption” began during my time as a nurse, and it’s a tradition that remains close to my heart.

In my last years as a nurse, I had the honor of caring for HIV and chemotherapy patients in their homes—many of whom were shut-ins living in deep poverty. Witnessing their struggles firsthand was both humbling and eye-opening. That’s when I started adopting a family each year and later encouraged our hospital’s home care team to do the same.

I’m thrilled to share that this simple idea blossomed into something extraordinary. The last time I spoke with a nurse from that organization, I learned the entire company now sponsors several families! Knowing this legacy of kindness continues is one of my greatest joys.

This Thanksgiving, I encourage you to share your gratitude by adopting a family in need or supporting someone less fortunate. Whether it’s through a local shelter, church, or community group, your act of kindness could bring hope and warmth to those who need it most. Together, let’s make this season of gratitude truly meaningful for everyone. ❤️

Contact your local shelters, a local social worker or home care facility - they can assist you in finding a family to adopt. If you don’t know who to call or you would like to find a great match for YOU, visit www.VolunteerMatch.org. If you can’t assist an entire family, smaller contributions are more than welcomed by this wonderful organization. Share the gift of giving with those who need help locally.

Funny but, the morning of the game, Ray said he was going to reach out to you to set a bet - Duke was the underdog, I believe but, I can't remember). Anyway, after the game, I asked him what you said about a bet and he said he never did reach out to you!
