#GIVINGTUESDAYCLT 2024: "UNLEASHING GENEROSITY"
"Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can."
... John Wesley, Letters of John Wesley
“I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver."
... Maya Angelou
Tuesday, December 3rd is the 12th year of Giving Day, also known as Giving Tuesday. The initial idea behind Giving Day/Giving Tuesday was to inspire personal philanthropy and to encourage charitable giving: be it time or money or goods (or all three) during the holiday season. Charlotte is participating in its 11th year of giving.
"No one has ever become poor from giving."
... Anne Frank
LOTS OF GENEROSITY WAS UNLEASHED IN CHARLOTTE ON #GIVINGTUESDAY 2023
“Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more."
... H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

How You Can "Give" In The Charlotte Area
Assistance League of Charlotte: sponsors philanthropic programs which feed, cloth, mentor, educate children and families in Mecklenburg County. Financial donations are very much appreciated, however the Assistance League would also be delighted for donations to its AL Thrift Shop of clothing, shoes, household items, electronics, linens, furniture, books, toys. And you can also volunteer to help out in the AL Thrift Shop.
Council For Children's Rights: the largest child advocacy organization in the Southeast with some 30 attorneys on staff. The Council needs volunteer attorneys and custody advocates to assist with custody cases. Financial donations are what the Council, as well. Check out the Council For Children's Right's Facebook page.
Dress For Success: (one of my personal favorites as a former corporate executive)--helps more than 900 Charlotte area women each year to find jobs, sponsors career preparation and retention programs, as well as provides appropriate clothing for the work world. Their needs require clothing appropriate for interviews and office work, office supplies, and of course financial contributions. They'll take any and all volunteer help you can provide in their programs. Check out the Facebook Page for Dress For Success.
Ronald McDonald House Of Charlotte: provides housing for the families of children who are being treated in Charlotte area medical facilities. Ronald McDonald House needs monetary contributions, gift card to local grocery stores, canned meals, toiletries, paper towels. Or you can help out at the House with evening meals.
These are just three of the local, Charlotte organizations looking for help on Giving Tuesday and throughout the 2024 holiday season. There are more than 764 Charlotte area non-profit organizations looking for your assistance, including The Humane Society of Charlotte, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, Friends of Ferile Felines, the Home Again Foundation, and so many more. Whether your interests lie in helping children, our military/veterans, animals, educational institutions, health services, cultural organizations, there's something for everyone. And this year, the need is greater than ever, especially in western North Carolina, so ravaged by Hurricane Helene.
"It's not how much we give, but how much love we put into the giving."
... Mother Teresa
