Motivational Monday…Lit from Within
When we lived in FL, I met a neighbor who was one of the most beautiful women I’d ever seen. She was a doctor who was from Iran.
She always showed up at the Christmas cookie exchange, with cookies that were so good, no one wanted to share them with their family members.
She spoke to everyone as if she’d known them for years. She wasn’t loud nor did she monopolize the conversations. She looked at you and listened (and heard) every word you said.
I cannot remember hearing a negative word from her. She lifted the spirits of everyone around her.
When I met her, she had breast cancer. Through the years, there were successes, treatments, remissions, and the return of it. She remained beautiful through it all.
It wasn’t only her physical beauty. her true beauty came from within. It was as if there was a light from within that shined and brightened all things around her.
That beautiful woman is no longer with us but when someone mentions a beautiful woman, I want to tell them what true beauty is.
Is your true beauty shining through?
Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.
Kahlil Gibran
People are like stained - glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
