Things To Do In Destin Florida Around Christmas
Most folks can see the fun in visiting Destin Florida during peak summer season. Miles of beautiful beach, warm weather, and plenty of outdoor activities. Sound nice? I'm actually describing Emerald Coast living in December!
1) Explore The beach-- Although we have an occasional cold front, we spend most of December in the 70's. What's missing from summer peak season? The crowds. 2-3 times a week I will spend an hour or so just strolling on the beach. Solve life's problems walking in the sand.
2) Golf--The local golf courses operate year round. While that mid-morning tee time can be a challenge in July, things slow down in December. Bring your favorite clubs and enjoy time on the green.
3) Fresh Seafood-- Claim a table at one of the seafood restaurants along Destin Harbor. Those shrimp you are feasting on were likely swimming in the gulf yesterday. And those three hour waits? That's something the July guests can deal with!
4) World Class Fishing-- Spend a morning fishing in the bay, or go offshore and chase a tuna!
5) Shopping--Visitors to the Emerald Coast have a wide range of shopping options. The Destin Commons (see picture below) decorates for Christmas and has special events most weekends. REALLY hunting a bargain? Travel a little further down hwy 98 and take a tour of Silver Sands Outlet Mall. Destin has the shopping capacity to handle peak summer crowds. During December, these stores offer world class shopping minus the crowds of a big city.
