What Is YOUR House FAMOUS For?

What is YOUR house FAMOUS For?

Have you noticed that people often NAME their HOUSE after some specific attribute that the house is known for, ok maybe not quite famous.

For example, I even hear buyers name the house they want a second or third showing of, such as:

1. The Creek House
2. The White Picket Fence House
3. The Garden House
4. The Pool Slide House
5. The Chef's Kitchen House
6. The Man Cave House
7. The Front Porch House
8. The Loft House
9. The Gazebo House
10. The View House
11. The Winding Path House
12. The Theater Room House

You get the idea. So what would you name your house for something that makes it famous (at least to you) such as this pleasant backyard.
backyard

OK, what house do you think is the most famous house in the world either fictional or non fictional?

Here are some of my suggestions for really famous homes.

1. White House
2. Kansas House that landed with Dorothy inside on the 'Wicked Witch of the East' and her Ruby Slippers sticking out from the Wizard of Oz
Dorothys House
DorothysHouse.com from Coronado Museum, Seward County Kansas
3. Tara from "Gone with the Wind"
4. 10 Downing Street, London
5. Buckingham Palace

I can't say my house is famous for anything special. We have the Hubble House (Hubble Telescope), Muhammed Ali's Houses, & the Thomas Edison House to name a few.

Loved the inspirational question, our house is famous for being Pet Friendly, one cat came in after we moved in... another one is checking out the place deciding if he wants to move in.... and keep in mind three are now inside two cats and a half cat half dog:)Endre

Hello Jeff - the house can become a home because of who lives there.  Is that magic or something else. . .

Good morning Jeff. Must say to name your place you must first have skin in the game. You have to own it before you can name it as your own. Enjoy your day.

Hi Jeff- good post. I'll never forget when we purchased our home in Northern VA. It was known as the home with THE basement. It was perfect for entertaining with a 10 foot long bar.

Our Prius was nicknamed "Spud" by my friend's daughter because it's gold and looks like a potato. .

I like it Kathy the Basement House with Spud parked out in front. Now we are talking. Every house is famous for something. Jeff

When we looked at our house we were told there was going to be a winery behind us, so it became the winery house for us. And there is a very nice winery.

I do that with my buyers! We nickname the homes we've toured because it is often easier to remember than the address, plus it ties an emotional response to it. There was the creepy house, the Pottery Barn house, the bland house, the noisy house, the one with the pretty teal door, the garden oasis.. just to name a few. My house doesn't have a name but I sure hope buyers will remember it as the pretty one I want to call home when it's time to sell

That is a great idea with buyers Andrea, they do that on HGTV also rather than use addresses utilizing some uniques characteristic of the home as you do. "The Pretty House" for you then. Jeff

Fun post, Jeff! I think I would name our house "the canyon view house" given the location.

Our first house in the La Costa area of Carlsbad and near the Omni La Costa Resort was down the street from the Rat Pack House.
