GOLF PRO SHOP SALE PARTY           

Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Pro Shop

HOLLY BALL           

Saturday, Dec. 7, from 7-10 p.m., Clubhouse I Crystal Ballroom

Celebrate the holiday season with live music by the Respect Band Trio, performing hits from the 1940s to today. Dress to impress and enjoy dinner, dancing, and a hot chocolate bar in your favorite holiday attire! Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with dinner served at 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 and include dinner, dancing, a holiday photo, and entertainment. Tables of 10 must be reserved at purchase. Purchase tickets by calling or visiting the Lifestyle office at either clubhouse. Note: The last day to purchase tickets is Thursday, Dec. 5.

 

LIVE JAZZ PERFORMANCE        

Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2:30 p.m., Clubhouse II Auditorium 

Experience live jazz by the talented students of Paul Carr’s Jazz Academy of Music, featuring classic jazz standards, contemporary works, and holiday tunes. The performance is free, but cash or check donations are welcome. Free, but registration is required by calling or stopping by the Lifestyle office of either clubhouse.

 

AUTHOR TALK: RUSTY ROSMAN

Monday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m., Clubhouse I

Rusty Rosman, author of “Two Envelopes”, explains how to prepare essential information for loved ones after death. Sponsored by The Jewish Residents of Leisure World and Hadassah. Free; no registration required. Books available for $20 (cash or check).  

 

TOYS FOR TOTS COLLECTION 

Now Through Tuesday, Dec. 10., Administration Building Lobby

Weichert, Realtors is collecting toys for the Toys for Tots Marine Corps Reserve program. Donate new, unwrapped items like games, dolls, plush animals, books, Legos, puzzles, and more, along with boxes of batteries. Drop off donations Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. 

 

DISCUSSION: BREAST CANCER AND NUTRITION       

Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 1-2 p.m., Clubhouse I  

My Active Senior, in partnership with Montgomery County, presents a “Breast Cancer Awareness” discussion about nutrition. Free, but registration is required by calling or stopping by the Lifestyle office of either clubhouse.

 

HOLIDAY CAROLING WITH MCPD

Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 6:30 p.m., Clubhouse II Auditorium 

Sing holiday carols with the Montgomery County Police Department’s 4th District Community Operations Unit. Enjoy hot cocoa and marshmallows while celebrating the season. Family and friends are encouraged to attend! Free, but registration is required by calling or stopping by the Lifestyle office of either clubhouse.

 

CHROMEBOOK WORKSHOP       

Friday, Dec. 13, from 3-5 p.m., Technology Resource Center - Clubhouse II

Leisure World Tech offers a final chance this year to master your Chromebook.  This free session is limited to 20 attendees. Sponsored by Leisure World Tech. Registration begins Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 9 a.m. in the Lifestyle office at either clubhouse.

 

CAFÉ AIM: WINTER SOLSTICE PARTY

Friday, Dec. 13, from 4-8 p.m., Clubhouse I Crystal Ballroom

Celebrate the season at Café AIM’s annual winter solstice dinner party, featuring a signature five-course dinner followed by live music from Keith Killgo in a “Tribute to Donald Byrd.” Enjoy classics like “Walking in Rhythm” and “Rock Creek Park” as Killgo and his sextet bring the jazz, funk, and R&B dynamism of Byrd to life. Doors open at 3 p.m., dinner begins at 4 p.m., and the concert starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40 (check only, payable to AIM) and are available at the Lifestyle office in Clubhouse I.

 

OLNEY BALLET THEATRE 

Saturday, Dec. 14, at 4 p.m., Clubhouse II Auditorium

Enjoy highlights from Mary Day’s classic The Nutcracker performed by the Olney Ballet Theatre, featuring vintage sets and costumes, professional guest artists, and talented local dancers. Tickets are $15 and available at the Lifestyle office in either clubhouse.

 

LESSONS AND CAROLS 

Sunday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m., The Inter-Faith Chapel

Celebrate the spirit of the season at the annual Lessons and Carols service, featuring Scripture, prayers, and timeless carols. Enjoy performances by professional vocalists from Baltimore Musicales, the Chancel Choir, and Dr. Holly Oberle, Director of Music. All residents and guests are welcome to this cherished holiday tradition.

 

MOVIE: ‘RUNNING FOR GRACE’ 

Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2:30 p.m., Clubhouse II Auditorium 

This timeless love story, set in 1920s Hawaii, follows a young orphan who falls for the daughter of a plantation owner while delivering medicine in a racially divided community. Free, but registration is required at the Lifestyle office in either Clubhouse I or Clubhouse II.

 

SINGING CAPITAL CHORUS CONCERT  

Sunday, Dec. 15, at 4:30 p.m., Clubhouse I Crystal Ballroom

Enjoy a one-hour musical extravaganza as the renowned Singing Capital Chorus performs festive and heartwarming holiday melodies in four-part harmony. The proceeds benefit Lions charitable activities, including treatment for children with cancer. Sponsored by the Lions Club. Tickets are $15 and are on sale at the Lifestyle office in either clubhouse.

 

TAKOMA PARK COMMUNITY BAND HOLIDAY CONCERT

Monday, Dec. 16, at 7:30 p.m., Clubhouse II                       

Celebrate the season with a concert featuring secular and sacred holiday music, including a Hanukkah medley, “Sleigh Ride,” “Bugler’s Holiday,”and more festive favorites. This free performance welcomes donations by cash or check. Registration is required; call or visit the Lifestyle office at either clubhouse to sign up.

 

MVA MOBILE OFFICE 

Tuesday, Dec 17, from 10 a.m.-1:45 p.m., Clubhouse II parking lot   

The MVA’s Mobile Office returns with services including renewal of non-commercial driver’s licenses and issuance of Maryland photo identification cards. Appointments are required, which you can schedule with your Leisure World ID in the Clubhouse II Lifestyle office.

OLNEY CONCERT BAND HOLIDAY CONCERT 

Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 7:30 p.m., Clubhouse I Crystal Ballroom

Get into the holiday spirit with the Olney Concert Band as they perform traditional pieces like “Polka” from “The Bartered Bride” and festive favorites such as “Russian Christmas Music,” “Patapan,” and “You Better Sleigh.” Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Lifestyle office in either clubhouse.

Hi Dorie, Many of the hi-rise building also have a community room with weekly events in addition to the activities in either of the 2 clubhouses.
