Stress Free Holiday Season?

By

Is a stress free holiday season even possible? Especially when Thanksgiving is so late in the month.

I cruise the first week of December and this year, I have having major surgery on my dominate hand next week so it's particularly challenging to get it all done. It doesn't help that I am a huge decorator each year.

My goal was to finish shopping, wrapping, cards and decorating by today. I thought I had it all under control when I left for my cruise.

Most was all done before I left on my cruise. I ordered one gift nearly two weeks ago. It did not come yet. I reached out to the company and was told with Thanksgiving and their first of the month billing, they are behind and they have no idea when it will be shipped. Since I'm having surgery, I needed to mail it by Monday to the recipient. That can't happen now so I cancelled the order and have to shop today to find another gift. I'm not too happy about it.

Otherwise, everything is will be done today or maybe tomorrow since I have to shop later today.

I also have a large Christmas party where I do all the cooking! This year, due to surgery, that just is not going to happen. Plan B came into my silly, Christmas thoughts....A Christmas PJ Pizza Party!. Games are prepared and a neighbor will pick up the pizza since I won't be able to drive for 6-8 weeks after surgery! Neighbors will set up and clean up, too! Problem solved. There's always a solution!

While it's not been perfectly stress free, it's as stress free as possible under the circumstances. Planning was the keep to keeping my holidays season stress free.

Enjoy the season and don't stress!

Hi Dee... best wishes for a successful surgery. And I love the idea of a PJ pizza party. That's a perfect example of making lemonade when life gives you lemons.

Hi Nina, Thanks for your kind words. I'll have to post pictures of the PJ Pizza Party when I can! It will be fun!  Different than past years but it's what I can handle!  Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Thanks, Kathy! I have had to think about readjusting the party because my friends and I will miss the party and they are all excited about the changes. It's about being together and filling the day with laughter.

Lew, in our profession, we learn to adapt.

I'm not happy about the surgery but it is a must so I've done all I can to plan for the worst and hope for the best. I have tons of Christmas movies recorded to keep me busy and add a few smiles along the way.

Thanks for your insight.

Dee, this month does give everyone more stress, and throw in some surgery, even worse.

Dee Toohey sorry to be the bearer of bad new, but the way things are going, I don't think a stress free Holiday season is in store for you.

It's all under control. I've done very well planning. I've had one issue with my grand daughters gift but have Plan B in motion.  The surgery is going to be a challenge but with all of the normal and new holiday plans well under control, I'm sure all will be as well as can be.
