Nativities Show

One weekend a year, prior to Christmas, the LDS Temple in Minot has a display of nativity scenes. It is the only time we visit this church because it is not the denomination we attend BUT Carol has her own nativity collection and we all enjoy going to this event to admire the creativity shown there. It's very difficult to pick out a few favorites as there are always hundreds of nativity sets on display. I like the one below (L) because we have one like it but ours is about 12" tall.

I like the simplicity of this: The Lamb Of God.

Because I love dogs.

Bob, I can see why you go to this church every year, those decorations are beautiful.   So is your room, and cute photo of you three.

Joan Cox the photo was taken at the same church, it was a room they had set up and some teens were kind enough to take the picture with my phone.

Hello Bob - thank you and your family for the Christmas greeting.  Over the years, I have seen many nativities.  It is interesting to me to see how the difference in interpretation as well as seminaries of course.

Hi Michael Jacobs , Carols collection is very diverse as well and the range of sizes is amazing from one that could sit on top of a quarter to one with figures as large as 16" tall.

One that the church allowed never would have made it into our home. It looked the The Grateful Dead album cover with skeletons at the last supper.

My Mom always said that the best nativity sets were the ones where the baby Jesus was not glued to the crib. That way the manger could be without Jesus until he could be born on Christmas day when the little baby Jeus could make his first appearance in the nativity. I always look for mangers scenes where the baby Jesus is free. Amen. Jeff

I love your mom's insight Jeff Masich-Scottsdale AZ Associate Broker,MBA,GRI . When I go home today I'll need to look at Carol's collection to see how many "free" baby Jesus' we have. 😊

Bob- your post reminded me that I used to have a Nativity set but it was lost in one of our moves. It's been ages since I remember seeing it.

Kathy Streib your comment reminds me it may be time to write a new post on moving and choosing a good mover. 😃

Thank you Endre Barath, Jr. The message does not come through loud and clear in these days of commercialism and deceit by "pretender" religions.

It is a fun event to attend Brian England . There were a few that I would not let be displayed if I were in charge but what the heck... I'm not in charge. 😌

Good morning, Bob... Merry Christmas to all the Timms. Loved each and everyone of these creches. Mine is 54 years old. I purchased it when in graduate school for $5 and couldn't afford much of anything, but wanted Christmas in my apartment.

That's cool Nina Hollander, Broker and I can relate. When I was in trade school I purchased a rosewood sculpture of the man of wisdom and the boy of learning for my mother. It was way more than I could afford. After her death it was returned to me and it's a piece of art I will always cherish (just like I will always cherish you).

Love the photos of all the nativity sets and the Timms. I bet that is quite the display!

It really is an amazing collection Kat Palmiotti . The main area of the display is a gymnasium (full size basketball court) but the displays run through the entire temple building.

We have a woman here who has been collecting nativities for years. She rents out a historic building and displays them for all to see.
