Holiday Decorating California Desert Style

Way back in 2012 we spent New Year's Eve with a good friend who has a place in the Palm Desert area (Bermuda Dunes).

We were taking a walk through the neighborhood to enjoy the holiday decorations before Happy Hour and saw this one home that had several cactus that were festively decorated desert style. It looks like a type of agave but I am certainly no expert...but I thought the ornaments at the tips of the leaves (or are they branches?) were pretty cool.

This decorated cactus had a beautiful backdrop of bougainvillea.

Hello Jeff - regardless of season, I find desert landscaping attractive, but I can see why this holiday-themed garden caught your attention. Like you, I often have difficulty in identifying the many different types of cacti, succulents and other plants wherever I am.

Good morning Jeff. Had a bougainvillea outside the front door when we lived in Florida. It got so big because my wife would not let it be trimmed, it had to be removed with chains and two trucks. They are beautiful but can grow quickly out of control. Never had a cactus. Uniquely decorated. Enjoy your day.

That looks nice and decorating cactus can be a risky endeavor, hopefully, they didn't get pricked, haha.

Risky, indeed, but the end result was worth it, I think. Some cactus would be impossible to decorate.
