It Was A Dickens Of A Time

This past Saturday we drove to Garrison North Dakota to partake in The Dickens Festival, the official Christmas Capital of North Dakota. This event is an all weekend event held the last week of November and each December weekend preceding Christmas. The event is 30 years old and it gets bigger every year. Here are a few pictures I snapped.

All of us enjoyed the tour of the town of Garrison ND on the Queen Elizabus, as Timmothy's smile attests.

Most every store and service was open including the ND Firefighters Museum.

Most of the shoppe keepers were dressed for the occasion. BTW is you go back to the photo of the Queen Elizabeth the tour guide was dressed the best and his story about the buss was very fascinating.

This non-functional phone booth had a replica of a phone of that era and it also served as the boarding point for the Queen Elizabus boarding point.

The license plate in this shoppe caught my attention as my daughter is Tina Timm (before marriage).

No festival is complete without food and entertainment. We passed on the stage entertainment as it was more than we cared to pay for for a Taylor Swift impersonator, Heck, I wouldn't pay $40.00 to see the real Taylor Swift!

It was a fun event Carol Williams . We missed a few things by going only to the daytime events but I think we would have missed more just going in the evening as many do.

Hello Bob - it looks like the Timm family had a Dickens of a good time for their weekend trip to Garrison North Dakota.  While each of the sights and attractions may not have had great expectations, it appears to have been an overall enjoyable experience.

What fun, Bob! And that license plate with Tina's name was certainly unexpected. Based on how you were all dressed, it must have been a cold day!

Nina Hollander, Broker , my Love, it was a typical ND December day with a high around 25 degrees. The plus was that it was sunny and with little wind. Mt error in dressing for the elements was I wore a cap and not a stocking hat. We did stop in the hardware store and I purchased a blaze orange stocking cap and I was good to go for the day.

Bob "RealMan" Timm I hate wearing anything on my head... there is a reason I live in North Carolina! :)

Good morning Bob,

It sounds like the Dickens Festival was a perfect event for your whole family to enjoy! 25 degrees is cold to me now so can see why you felt the need to buy a stocking cap.

Dorie Dillard Austin TX I don't remember the percentage of heat loss through a bald head but I know it's very high. A cap helps but a stocking cap really helps. 😄
