What to Gift The Person Who Has Everything

No one has everything, although you may think they do.

A package comes in the mail; perhaps it is a gift they received when they opened their mailbox, and there is a package from a friend. The friend lives across the country but sent them a box carefully wrapped with the homemade cookies that the family makes every year; what a precious gift, and the happiness and joy are so precious—receiving an unexpected, thoughtful gift.

My friend's husband just had open heart surgery. Whenever I buy her a present, she never seems to like it. Those who know me understand how much time I spend buying gifts. This year's gift will be food, as she does not cook. She always asks me to make her soup with instructions on how to make it. I keep asking her if she has a crock pot, which she does, and it is as easy as pie. She will get her food with printed instructions on how to make her favorite soup.

Perhaps you can give a Gift card to a dinner at their favorite restaurant or buy a cookbook you think they would enjoy.

You may even purchase tickets to the Nutcracker Ballet, which performs in many major cities nationwide.

Never think people have everything. The Christmas Spirit is the Joy of Giving!

The smallest act of kindness can make a person so happy

The Joy of Christmas is in Giving, not Receiving, it is said, but unwrapping a gift is always unique and exciting to see what is inside, and it is the thought to know that the person took their time to think of you for that you are grateful.

This is my December Challenge entry sponsored  by Carol Williams and Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400

My sister Sarae and I would take our daughters to The Nutcracker during the Holiday Season. I included a short video I hope you enjoy

Hello Hannah - I do believe you put a lot of thought into gift-giving and there are those who may be difficult, even impossible, to buy for. In those cases, don't be too hard on yourself - you did the best you can.  Be a peace with your decision-making.  Merry Christmas.

Michael Jacobs I used to get upset with the remarks but now I just mark it up to rudeness. I would never tell someone I did not like it unless for color  I may say would you mind if I change the color and that would only be for someone I was very very close to I would also correct my self by saying  but I am not sure I think it would not look as nice you did pick a great color not important. Thank you I love it

Hi Hannah:

Unexpected and thoughtful gifts, no matter how small, are always appreciate. I hope your friend appreciates the tasty gift of soup and the recipe...even if she chooses not to make it for herself and her husband in the future - I'm sure it will be most appreciated.

The Nutcracker is great fun to see, whether on TV or in person. We try to at least watch it every Christmas on PBS. It's been a few years since we saw a live performance.

Giving really is an amazing thing. It could be disappointing when you spend the time doing that and someone isn't appreciative. I'd probably stop getting them gifts and just call to wish them a wonderful day.

Hi Hannah,
You are absolutely right... No one has everything!

Your post is a reminder that the thought and effort behind a gift often mean more than the gift itself. Homemade cookies, a favorite soup with printed instructions, or even an experience are all thoughtful ideas that show how much we care about the recipient.

Thanks for sharing your ideas.

Hi Hannah, I loved your post and the Nutcracker video. I agree that there is excitement in unwrapping gifts, they will be sad souls if they don't get curious or excited at finding what's in it. I hope you had a lovely time at the Nutcracker with your family! We see it quite often, too, during Christmas.
